My name is Christopher Palmer and I am a languages practitioner. I am now in my sixteenth year of teacher and I have a wealth of experience of liaising with the standard EdExcel GCSE French, Cambridge International GCSE French, EdExcel A-Level French, beginner's Mandarin courses and I am starting to become acquainted with IB French. I have published a vast array of resources which span Key Stage 2-5.

I have compiled this resource using an adult approach who are learning French for the very first time.
This activity focuses on the time only on the hour and it also incorporates regular verbs ending in '-er' in the present tense. This resource also incorporates all the four keys skills such as reading, listening, speaking and writing.
This resource includes the worksheet, a handout on the conjugation of 78 different '-er' verbs, the sound file for the listening task and the listening transcript.

I have designed this puzzle where students will have the opportunity to exercise the use of 'venir de' followed by an infinitive by spotting the 10 differences in picture 2. This would be ideal as a starter after having taught its concept in the previous lesson and this is geared towards students who are studying IGCSE French, A-Level French and adults who are studying French as a foreign language. There is a list of vocabulary available at the bottom of the puzzle to assist unfamiliar vocabulary.
For the stronger students / gifted and talented: Try to encourage them to point out the differences using a reflexive verb as the infinitive.
Students are more than welcome to come up with alternative answers to the answers I have displayed on the subsequent slide.

Welcome to the tenth installment of months of the year, weather and seasons. This resource is geared towards learners of Key Stage 2 level and it focuses on the month of September and associated weather and season.
Present the numbers from 1-31 in French first of all and then ask the children if their birthday is in October. Ensure you tell the students that the first of the month is ‘le premier’. Ask them the question, ‘c’est quand, ton anniversaire’. Encourage them to reply ‘mon anniversaire, c’est le ____ octobre’.
Present the story and vocabulary to them. They are also available in the workbooks. The children can look at their workbooks as the story is presented on the board. If there are gifted and talented students in the class or native French speakers, present the more complex vocabulary to them which is ‘il ne fait plus chaud’, ‘il est orageux’ and ‘il y a une inondation’.
Get the students to complete the classwork such as the mix and match activity and the listening activity. When completing the listening activity, be sure to alternate between the lower level and the higher level questions. Next, the students can colour in the autumn picture in their workbook and then cut out the pictures and the labels from the sheet overleaf and label the colouring in sheet by sticking the correct pictures and labels together.
Play the quiz with the students. There are differentiated levels on the quiz and each student should select which level they feel most comfortable with.
There is also differentiated homework which revises the weather vocabulary from January to October.

This resource is specifically geared towards learners of IGCSE or IB level where such concepts are featured on the programmes.

This classroom displays depicts 105 different places in the town in French from A-Z!! YES, that’s right, 105!!
Each poster is very informative as it contains the place in the town in French with the name in English using both the definite and indefinite article as appropriate, alongside the preposition ‘à’ with its meaning in English.
You don’t need to necessarily put up all 105 posters, but the classroom would look absolutely bright, engaging and colourful if you did! You can of course be very selective and put up the most common ones but it is of course up to you!!
Also included in this resource, are 20 different things that can be found in the town, such as the bus stop, telephone box, level crossing, etc. Feel free to put those up as well!
Happy teaching and learning!
This powerpoint teachers numbers from 1-30 in French. It also reinforces or introduces age and (for the gifted and talented) years in French, in addition to how to express one’s age and when one was born in French, but of course, this part is optional. If you don’t wish to introduce the numbers in the context of age, this is absolutely fine and you can just introduce them non-contextually, i.e. 'Répétez après moi - ‘un’, ‘un’, ‘deux’, ‘deux’, etc.
After having introduced the numbers, try out the listening comprehension and it is differentiated into two different levels. For level 1 (lower level), the students choose the correct answer according to the number they hear. For level 2 (higher level), they have a choice of 30 answers to choose from and they can simply colour in the box according to what they hear.
There are also follow up activities in this powerpoint such as picture pairs, French mathematics and a wordsearch. There is also a handout available with this resource that you cna print and distribute to the class.
There are also four differentiated quizzes on kahoot based on French calculations which reinforces numbers 1-30 and they are defined as follows:
Level 1 - Choose the correct answer and they have a minute to answer
Level 2 - Choose the correct answer and they have 30 seconds to answer
Level 3 - Choose the correct answer and they have only 10 seconds to answer
Level 4 - Type the answer in words and they only have 20 seconds to answer
The links to all of the quizzes are provided at the end of the powerpoint.
When you have finished teaching the numbers and when you feel the students have sufficiently mastered them, get them to complete the reflection slip which is also attached to this resource, so they can reflect on how much they have mastered the numbers. It is titled as ‘Numbers 1-30 - Reflection’.
Happy teaching and learning!
This powerpoint explicitly outlines the function of ‘ne … ni … ni’ and other uses of this concept both in the present tense and the perfect tense. There is a wealth of good examples demonstrated in this presentation with follow up differentiated activities and also revises previously learnt negatives in French. This is ideal for learners of IGCSE French and AS/A2 level French.
Happy teaching and learning!

Worksheet based on forming etre verbs as the auxiliary verb. Students look at the pronouns and the verbs and then write sentences in the perfect tense. They may require assistance in forming past participles before attempting this exercise.
This worksheet gives students the opportunity to build up on their vocabulary and also further practise these new words. A very useful tool when developing learners' writing in preparation for the exam. This worksheet is geared towards learners of a weaker ability.
Test on the imperfect tense, based on random verbs studied in Stage 3 and also further examines the present and perfect tense. There are thirty questions based on the imperfect tense and also ten supplementary questions on the present and perfect tense. (This is a very good way not to forget tenses previously studied!). Answers are available for this test at a cost of £2.
Whatever time limit you set your students to complete this test is totally up to you, but I would recommend 15-20 minutes. I would also recommend obtaining at least 32 correct answers before proceeding onto test 'Stage 3-9a' which is a more comprehensive test.
