I am a secondary school science teacher, and I also teach Alevel Biology. I have had a passion for adapting and creating my own resources since my teacher training and having used TES to dig me out of that stressful 'I'm teaching something new tomorrow but haven't got any good resources!' panic I decided to share the resources I have lovingly made and adapted.
Most of my resources are geared towards low ability groups as that's what I have the most experience teaching.

A project I edited and used with my year 7’s. I set it as an independent learning project, giving them task deadlines each lesson. Covers:
planet order in the solar system
researching facts about planets
planet factfiles / posters
build a model of a planet
comets, asteroids, meteorites etc
days and night
seasons
7 life processes
aliens!
Opportunities for creativity, in the model making, designing aliens and making meteorlogy reports; for researching and always - LEARNING!
Quite a jam-packed powerpoint, some activities can be left out if needs be but lots of option for a varied lesson.
I made this lesson for my low ability year 8 class; includes starter, particle model diagrams, video of conduction, cut and stick activity and answers, questions, optional practical, individual writing task and plenary to finish.
Low ability worksheet to go with a discovery experiment using light ray boxes and prisms. Pupils to colour in the spectrum and use the key words to write a description of what is happening.
I created this extended project resource for my year 9 class, to fall in line with the AQA NEW GCSE 9-1 Physics P1 topic: Energy.
Resource included instructions of what to research, key questions to answer, extension questions to think about, useful website links and a writing frame for what to include exactly on each slide. PDF file and editable word document included.
Gets pupils to research non-renewable vs renewable energy, and different renewable energy sources in more detail, formulate conclusions and evaluate efficiency of each energy source. Opportunity to stretch and challenge, with supportive writing frame at the end to support those who need some more guidance.
**Last lesson of 3 on heat transfer, to come after convection and conduction lessons.
KS3 lesson I used with a low / mid ability year 8 class on radiation. Can be adapted for higher ability. Comes with 2 summary worksheets in different formats - fill in the gaps with words provided and without words, and a match up.
-thinking starter or recap convection starter
video to introduce radiation
examples of radiation with pictures
quick quiz AFl
followed by summary worksheets with animated answers on the powerpoint
summary quiz plenary
Videos also linked in the powerpoint.
An independent project I created for my year 8 groups, based on the topic they should have been learning in school but turned the lessons into a project to make it easier for them to work independently on a project.
Project is centered around how we see rainbows, and covers the following topics:
What is light?
Luminous vs non-luminous objects
The electromagnetic spectrum
What is a rainbow? When do they form?
The eye
Light ray diagrams
Reflection
Refraction
Why do we only see rainbows as a semi-circle?
Research into how, and whether or not, a rainbow could be seen as a full circle
Investigation into the visible light spectrum
At the end of the powerpoint, there is opportunity for pupils to plan an investigation, using prisms if in school or other objects they can find (eg. cds etc) that would create a rainbow spectrum. Slides include information on planning, recording and analysing. Designed to be set over a period of a few weeks, but could be split into a few lessons if desired.
