A great resource for a one off lesson on tonal shading and the development of accurate portraiture. This sheet guides through a graduated tonal ladder to allow pencil technique development, through to symmetry in the completion of a female portrait. This would be a great one off lesson, cover sheet, or used as part of a series of lessons looking to develop pencil skills or tonal portraiture skills.

A simple worksheet based activity where students are directed to produce a health and safety poster. This can be done independently and can be used as a cover lesson or following a health and safety workshop induction/ as a homework task. This resource includes common safety rules within Design & Technology and images to help inspire the aesthetics in the poster. By creating a workshop safety poster students become aware of rules, showing with clear evidence that they have been taught these. This helps to safeguard the teacher should an accusation be made that safety rules weren’t covered.

Help sheet with step by step process helping students to create a simplistic keyring personalised with their name and an image on tech soft 2D design. Students can use this independently to enable them to create 2D design work on their own. The resource allows for a finalised product to be created which can then be lasercut via DXF export or sending directly to a lasercutter/ vinyl cutter/ other CAM output.

This full powerpoint lesson introduces students to the art department with opportunity to discuss the Art department rules and expectations, particularly with safety. It then moves through key terms such as contour to encourage use of accurate art vocabulary when discussing an art work. The technique of pastel transfer printing is then demonstrated through a video made by myself. The video can be left on loop throughout the lesson so that students may refer back to it at anytime. There is a plenary task with reflection on the main activity and resources for printing/ certificates that can be awarded for excellent artwork. This is a fantastic one off lesson that can be used for years 5, 6, 7

This full lesson powerpoint including worksheets and support resources to be used within the lesson, guides students through describing and analysing artwork. Base din the work of Vincent Van Gogh, students are shown how to break down the formal elements of art into discussions of emotion and if there are wider world commentaries present within the painting. The powerpoint has instructions for use in the notes section, but is in general very user friendly and would be suitible for experienced and non experienced teachers to use. Suggested lesson length - 1 hour.

A 1 page induction sheet for workshop based health and safety inductions. To be accompanied by a teacher demonstration of the workshop machinery. This sheet will show that students have been trained on the risks and safety measures of particular machinery. This is crucial for the safeguarding of students whilst int he workshop setting and also for safeguarding the teacher in order to prove that proper thorough training on the tools/ machines has taken place prior to the student using them. The resource is a powerpoint consisting of 4 worksheets. “bronze” for year 7, “Silver” for year 8, “Gold” for year 9 and “Platinum” for years 10 & 11. In our setting we ask students to glue these into the front of their workbooks so that training is always easy to find.

This resources includes full lessons suitable for both experienced and non experienced/ non specialist teachers to deliver to KS3 students. All lessons are aimed to last an hour and there are 7 lessons within the sequence. The sequence of lessons includes: 1 point perspective 2 point perspective 3 point perspective oblique projection isometric projection designing with isometric projection Rendering This sequence of lessons is used within the graphics discipline within my current establishment with great success and positive feedback from both teaching staff and students alike. Teachers have commented on the ease of use and the high quality of the work produced by students.

A guide to help students independently navigate the expectations of the GSCE Design & Technology GCSE (based on the AQA criteria). The guide includes what to do on specific slides including exam board criteria and teacher explanations throughout. This guide is generic for any NEA topic and can be used at any stage within KS4 D&T. This resource has been developed over a number of years by an experienced HOD with fantastic outcomes, always well over the national average. We begin using it in year 9 to aid students in their understanding of expectations whilst the teacher is allowed to give specific feedback and guidance. By the time the students reach Year 11 they are well versed in expectations and are able to produce extremely high quality work as a result. This comes in Powerpoint and PDF format and once downloaded can be tailored to your setting/ needs easily. This resource would be perfect for anybody starting out the AQA Design & Technology GCSE and not knowling where to start, any non specialist teachers which have been given a GCSE D&T to take over due to unforseen absence or anybody that is looking to support their students in their independent undertaking of their NEA task.
