GERMAN CITIES WORD SEARCHES

(1)
GERMAN CITIES WORD SEARCHES - FIVE DIFFERENTIATED GERMAN CITIES WORD SEARCHES WITH ANSWER KEYS AND GRID TEMPLATE - PERFECT FOR DEVELOPING GERMAN LANGUAGE SKILLS AND DISCOVERING MAJOR CITIES IN GERMANY Word searches are great for encouraging students to engage with the written word in German - they refresh and reinforce language as they complete each grid. Students get a really good introduction to, and overview of, the geography of Germany and a range of major German cities in a slightly different way. We talk about other cities and towns students may know or discover too. With this set, each grid increases in challenge, and students can tell in which direction the words are written by looking at the arrow key. I always give my students answer keys for these types of activity - it’s an additional opportunity to engage with language, it helps them develop more independence in their learning, and they genuinely enjoy ‘correcting’ their own and especially each others’ work. The templates help students apply their knowledge of language more creatively and practically - and they can include cities they discover too. The reference sheet works well as a long-term reference resource, not just for these particular word searches. I use word searches in a range of contexts, not only when we’re looking specifically at the focus language - they’re great for starters, for free-choice activities, for sub lessons and so on. FRENCH-SPEAKING COUNTRIES POSTERS FLASHCARDS

FRENCH-SPEAKING COUNTRIES KS3 FRENCH FRENCH-SPEAKING COUNTRIES KS4 FRECH FRENCH-SPEAKING COUNTRIES GCSE FRENCH FRENCH-SPEAKING COUNTRIES FLASHCARDS POSTERS An instant introduction to the scope of the Francophone world, promoting French as a living language, spoken widely across the world, and featuring in the everyday life of the learning environment. There are countries or regions where a significant number of the population speak French as either their first or second language, such as Viet Nam. Each flashcards / poster shows the continent, country and capital city in French, and its national flag. There may be a number of countries and capital cities that students do not know, or are not aware of, so the word wall definitely helps them fully develop their general awareness, knowledge and understanding of Les pays francophones - students are often genuinely amazed at the scope of the French-speaking world - French is spoken on every continent! I’ve used the definite article, as I’ve found that this helps embed the concept of gender in French, and that proper nouns, such as countries, are subject to gender agreement rules too. The flashcards / posters are 8.5 x 11 (A4) portrait size. There are two backgrounds to choose from - French flag or plain, so 80 flashcards / posters in total. I always print on card stock and / or laminate my flashcards / posters, as they display much more effectively, are easier to manipulate as flashcards, and remain in excellent condition for years. SPANISH VEGETABLES BINGO GAMES #1

PRIMARY SPANISH KS3 SPANISH VEGETABLES BINGO GAMES 100 DIFFERENTIATED BINGO GRIDS AND 40 CALLING CARDS Bingo games are perfect for language learning, and they’re really easy to differentiate. All my students, regardless of age, find playing the games a great way of consolidating their Spanish vocabulary, and developing their Spanish language skills in general - bingo is absolutely perfect for speaking, listening, reading, writing and spelling. This set includes 100 differentiated bingo grids and 40 calling cards - 20 in Spanish, and 20 in English - I always play with English calling cards too, as I’ve found it’s a really great way of further consolidating vocabulary - students have to focus carefully on the language ‘switch’, and translate what they hear really quickly. It’s definitely useful to have calling cards, so that you can keep track of what you’re calling out, and it also lets students be the bingo caller too, meaning they can play entirely independently of the teacher. There are twelve Spanish vegetables in masculine, feminine, singular & plural in this set: the mushrooms the cauliflower thee carrots the lettuce the cucumber the tomato the cabbage the potatoes the garlic the broccoli the peas the onions I differentiate my bingo games by using picture-only cards, which are great for general vocabulary consolidation and recall, and listening skills. There are 40 9-square grids in total, and there’s a set of color (which I sometimes laminate so that I can just get them out whenever I need to - make sure students have wipe-clean pens on their tables!). I’ve also included the same grids in black and white - simply print these out. I sometimes give out pages with four grids on, and let students choose which order they play the grids in - they have multiple pages - or sometimes, I get the students to cut out the grids, place them in a small bowl or similar on tables and they then randomly choose grids - depending on the size of your class, you will definitely have several winners per game. The grids are designed for all the squares to be crossed off in order to win the game. I also use word-only grids to help students focus more on their reading skills, so I’ve included 40 Spanish word-only 9-square grids, 4 per page (10 pages). There are 20 mixed word and picture grids are ideal for additional challenge and differentiation. French-speaking countries, capital cities and flags label and colour worksheets provide great learning opportunities for any appropriate age group, at any time of the school year, and are definitely the perfect activity for consolidating knowledge of these countries and flags - students definitely really enjoy testing their memory and colouring the flags. Students***develop their language skills, as well as their knowledge of both the French-speaking and wider world***, in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. There are 40 countries where French is an official language, and may be a number of countries and capital cities that students do not know, or are not aware of, so the games help them fully develop their general awareness, knowledge and understanding of Les pays francophones. Speaking is a language skill that learners tend to find very challenging, regardless of level, and increased engagement with language that requires them to both reproduce accurately language they are already familiar with, and to be creative with that language in order to produce new language is integral to successful language learning. The questions feature a range of tenses and moods, such as the present tense, present subjunctive, perfect, imperfect, and conditional perfect. There are several questions focusing on wenn + subjunctive + conditional clauses, and a significant amount of implicit input on a range of grammatical concepts, such as word order with separable verbs in various tenses, um + zu clauses and so on. I try to include as broad a range of language as I can in the questions, as the activity is not solely about practising language, but also about*** actively learning*** it. I encourage students to look for cues and clues in the questions themselves, and this certainly enables them to engage with new or unknown language successfully, and to progress in their learning, which is just as important for more advanced learners. Questions formats are varied, to ensure maximum opportunity to work with the different ways to ask questions in German. Some questions seek to elicit very similar information, but are asked in different language: this avoids learners simply parroting learned responses to fixed prompts. The starters broadly address the following themes: music, film & television literature & culture :personal life, information & preferences : leisure & free time : health & well-being : history & society recent & current events : travel, tourism & holidays : technology & social media : likes & dislikes : local environment : environmental & social issues : education & studies Have a browse in my store for a wide range of German resources, including special offer bundles, German resource boxes, and lots of freebies. Ideal multi-skill language learning activity for developing listening, speaking, reading, writing and spelling skills for French language learners of all ages - in my experience, adult learners really enjoy a few competitive games of bingo too! I’ve described the games as not grade-specific, as the general goal for me is not to learn a lot of French Christmas vocabulary as such, but to work quite specifically on French language skills development. There are 100 grids in total, in both colour & BW. The color grids definitely look really good, but can prove expensive to prep - I have sets that I’ve laminated, and students use wipe-free pens, so that the grids can be used many times. Younger learners do tend to prefer the BW grids, taking some additional time to colour them in themselves. I often combine that activity with revision of colours, which can work really well too. The games are designed for players to cross off all the words or pictures on their grids in order to win the game. This set comprises the following: 40 picture-only bingo 12-square grids, 4 per page (10 pages) You can give students a random selection of pages, with students selecting the order of grids they play from. You can also cut out the grids, and place them in a small bowl or similar object on tables. Students then select grids randomly from the bowl. For additional challenge, students can play all four grids in a single game. Colour and BW 40 words & pictures bingo 12-square grids, 4 per page (10 pages) Colour & BW 10 picture-only 30-square grids (A4 portrait format) Distribute the grids among students, several grids per student, which they choose randomly for every game. There should be several winners per game, depending on the size of the group. Colour & B&W 10 words & pictures 30-square grids (A4 portrait format) Colour & B&W Calling card, featuring 32 French Christmas words. Print or photocopy double-sided to minimise prep. There are 8 check columns per page, so that you can really get the most from each card - call the words randomly, ticking them off as you go, so that you can check the winning grids. You can vary the use of the definite and indefinite article, singular or plural. Students should also be the bingo caller, rather than always the teacher. Calling card, featuring the English translation of the French Christmas words. This is great for additional challenge - students hear the English word, and translate it quickly, looking for it in writing in French in the grid. JOYEUX NOËL ET BONNE ANNÉE !

Spanish-speaking countries Los países hispanohablantes presentation & quiz an instant and comprehensive introduction to 21 countries where Spanish is an official language, which really help my students develop their awareness of the Spanish-speaking world: countries, their location and capital cities and flags. There are ***21 countrie***s featured in the quiz. Each country is presented individually on a world map, so that students can see exactly where in the world it lies: this immediately gives a geographical context for students, whose knowledge of world geography may not encompass the Spanish-speaking or wider world. FRENCH CITIES 5 DIFFERENTIATED WORD SEARCHES WITH ANSWER KEY AND GRID TEMPLATES I use these word searches as a way of introducing the geography and cities of France to my students, as well as to give them opportunity to practice their beginning French skills - they’re differentiated, and multi-skill. The grid template allows them to apply their French very practically, as they create grids for each other - I always encourage my students to explore France a little more, and find other cities and towns too. When I create word searches, I always create corresponding answer keys - for me, they’re an integral part of the learning activity, helping students develop independence in their learning, and offering further opportunity to engage with language. There’s a reference sheet of all cities included in the searches, which you can share between small groups of students, or give one to each student to stick into their learning workbooks as an all-year-round reference. Use as starters, refreshers, plenaries, sub/cover lessons, pick-me-ups or fun-time fillers at any time during the school year, as well as when you’re discussing the geography of France. I use these kinds of workbooks in lots of different ways: for practice during the introduction phase, for independent choice in class time, for home learning, for practice and revision during vacation and at return to class, and for cover lessons - they're really versatile, and ideal for KS3 French students who are getting to grips with conjugation in French, and beginning to work with compound sentences and texts. The workbooks focus on the mechanics of conjugation, rather than usage, and I've found that when my students are able to provide the correct conjugation very quickly, and out of a specific context, they feel really confident that their conjugation skills are developing well. I've included a couple of -GER and -CER verbs to ensure students are able to practice the addition of an E and Ç in the present tense nous form - I've found that students do need a little extra help with those. PRIMARY GERMAN CHRISTMAS KS2 GERMAN CHRISTMAS KS3 GERMAN CHRISTMAS GERMAN CHRISTMAS WORD SEARCHES - 10 DIFFERENTIATED WORD SEARCHES WITH ANSWER KEYS, GRID TEMPLATES & GERMAN CHRISTMAS VOCABULARY LIST The resource is copyright, all rights reserved. It is non-editable in a zipped format. It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed in any way outside your own classroom. The licence for purchase is a single-user licence only. Please read the Terms of Use. This set features ten differentiated word searches, with corresponding answer keys, focusing on a wide range of German Christmas vocabulary, with each consecutive grid increasing in challenge. The searches offer a really useful learning opportunity - enabling learners to engage with German Christmas vocabulary, which is a great springboard for discussion on Christmas traditions and practices in Germany and other German-speaking countries, comparing them to other traditions and practices students know, but also working on reading, writing, spelling and German language skills in general. Learners are able to identify which direction words are located in within the grid by referring to the arrow key. There are also five grid templates for learners to create their own searches for each other — this is a really popular activity, and I’ve found that my learners often like to create grids for family at home too. The templates enable learners to apply their language practically and creatively, which is really important at this stage of German language development. There is a single word search per page, portrait format, which ensures that text is accessible and manageable. Some of the more challenging grids do look a little cramped, as a good number of the German words are quite long. There are 50 German Christmas words across the word searches - it’s not necessary for students to learn all the words explicitly - over time, they tend to become familiar with all of them anyway. Looking for unfamiliar words in the grids really works well for implicit learning. There’s a full alphabetical vocab list, which is a great long-term German Christmas vocabulary reference resource, which my students like to add to when they can. My students really like this kind of grammar activity, as they like to work and learn independently, which is a successful way of varying teaching and learning methodologies - I’ve found it’s really important to avoid predominantly teacher-led learning in the languages classroom. The workbook focuses on the correct conjugation of verbs, rather than usage, but I definitely find it useful to remind students of a number of things when focusing on or revising tense and verb conjugation. Language learners tend to conflate what they know about grammar in their first language with the grammar of the language they are learning. For example, students with English as a first language frequently confuse the preterite tense with the imperfect tense when they are conjugating them, as well as when and how to use either tense. The resource is structured as follows: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: Spanish-English and English-Spanish, useful for longer-term reference too Three differentiated conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in Spanish across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation. For example with the perfect tense, students need to have a good grasp of the relevant auxiliary in the present tense - there are verbs that require either haben or sein, so the focus on the auxiliary sein with this workbook helps to embed this concept, and to get used to ensuring that the past participle is situated at the end of the clause or sentence. Forming the past participle of a whole range of verb groups follows a certain pattern, which students are able to identify and predict the more they work with conjugation, and these quick conjugations will certainly help to embed that successfully. The format is as follows: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: German-English and English-German. Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: = Quick Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in German across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation. = Quick Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in German, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in German. = Quick Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding German verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from an English prompt. = Notes and Next Steps sheet - encourages students to reflect on learning and progress = answer key Try this free quick conjugation workbook: GERMAN QUICK CONJUGATION WORKBOOK SAMPLER https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/german-conjugation-practice-sampler-12154187 Have a browse in my store for more German resources, including special offer bundles and freebies. ALEVEL GCSE GERMAN VERBS CONJUGATION PRESENT PERFECT IMPERFECT TENSES SIXTEEN WORKBOOKS & ANSWER KEYS: REGULAR VERBS : SEPARABLE VERBS : REFLEXIVE VERBS : IRREGULAR & MIXED VERBS : HIGH-FREQUENCY VERBS : VERBS TAKING SEIN IN THE PERFECT TENSE : 2,400 CONJUGATION QUESTIONS My students love these for quick conjugation recall practice, and they're the perfect activity for practice and revision. This is a bundle of sixteen 'quick conjugation' workbooks, which provide students with lots of opportunities to practice how to conjugation a range of high-frequency verbs in German with a focus on three tenses: present, perfect and imperfect. One of the workbooks focuses on verbs taking sein in the perfect tense. There are 150 conjugations in each workbook, with an individual focus on particular verbs groups. That's 2,400 quick conjugation questions in total. There is a complete answer key for each individual workbook too - my students really like to have the answer keys, as they find it enables them to work more independently, and they benefit from both self and peer assessment. I find answer keys really essential, as they provide students with additional opportunity to engage with language. I've been using the workbooks for a long time, and found they work best when I give my students regular and frequent chances to revisit the workbooks, including noting their thoughts on the Notes and Next Steps template. That really does help them to focus on their progress. We also use the template to guide and inform whole-group discussions about German conjugation in particular and German grammar in general. Even my advanced students get the chance to go 'back to the beginning' and work quickly through the conjugations, just to be sure that they have really grasped the concept. I use the workbooks as classwork, as homework, as 'free choice' resources, holiday refresher and revision work, and also as focused activities for sub lessons. They really do work well in a broad range of contexts. The verbs groups are: - regular verbs - irregular and mixed verbs - regular and irregular separable verbs - regular and irregular reflexive verbs - regular and irregular high-frequency verbs - verbs taking sein in the perfect tense The tenses are: - present tense (Präsens) - perfect tense (Perfekt) - imperfect tense (Präteritum) The structure of each quick conjugation workbook is: 10-page work book with two alphabetical verb reference lists: German-English and English-German Three differentiated conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: Conjugation Challenge One: each verb conjugated in German across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation. Conjugation Challenge Two: gives the infinitive of each verb in German, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in German. Conjugation challenge Three: students write the corresponding German verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from an English prompt. * 6-page answer key book which students find really useful, and I actually consider essential for this type of workbook - either to self- or peer-assess - it's also a great time saver for teachers, as well as a way of encouraging students to really assume more responsibility for, and independence in, their learning. * Notes and Next Steps page - we use this to map progress, and to note ideas for improvement. We also use it as to guide and inform whole-group discussion about learning and progress in general, which is a really popular and effective activity. It's also a great place to note any additional verbs that students learn, and this helps to build up a really strong verb vocab bank. This set of Spanish conversation starters features 100 starters in question format, suitable for KS3 Spanish to KS4 Spanish students. Speaking is a language skill that learners tend to find very challenging, and increased engagement with language that requires them to both reproduce language they are already familiar with, and to be creative with that language in order to produce new language is integral to successful language learning. The questions focus largely on the present tense, with some examples of tenses such as preterite and conditional. I like to include tenses we may not have formally covered, as the activity is not solely about practising language, but also about actively learning it. I encourage students to look for cues and clues in the questions themselves, and this certainly enables them to engage with new or unknown language successfully, and to progress in their learning. Questions formats are varied, to ensure maximum opportunity to work with the different ways to ask questions in Spanish. Some questions seek to elicit very similar information, but are asked in different language: this avoids learners simply parroting learned responses to fixed prompts. I remind students that it is not necessary to tell the truth - the purpose is to create and produce accurate and realistic language. Students can prepare their responses in as much detail as possible on the accompanying planning sheet, remembering that these are conversation starters, so that once they have responded, they should then say something to keep the conversation going. The starters broadly address the following themes: personal information family & routines at home hobbies & free time likes & dislikes local environment food & drink school & studies sport & healthy living countries & languages weather & seasons There is a companion translation activity too, as well as a special offer mini-bundle: SPANISH CONVERSATION TRANSLATION WORKSHEETS https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/spanish-conversation-translation-worksheets-1-12999437 SPANISH CONVERSATION STARTERS & TRANSLATION WORKSHEETS MINI-BUNDLE https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/spanish-conversation-starters-and-translation-1-12999527 ¡MUCHAS GRACIAS Y BUEN APRENDIZAJE!

GERMAN REGULAR VERBS FUTURE TENSE

(0)
GCSE GERMAN KSS3 GERMAN KS4 GERMAN FUTURE TENSE CONJUGATION PRACTICE 25 high-frequency regular German verbs, 150 conjugation questions, 3 differentiated challenges, answer keys ideal for advanced KS3 German students who are beginning to work with compound sentences and longer texts, and generally developing their knowledge and understanding of conjugation and tense in German. My students really like this kind of grammar activity, as they like to work and learn independently, which is a successful way of varying teaching and learning methodologies - I’ve found it’s really important to avoid predominantly teacher-led learning in the languages classroom. I tend to introduce the future tense along with the conditional tense, as I’ve found this can help students consolidate the pattern of conjugation very quickly, and it also helps them understand the distinction between will and would, particularly the fine distinction between the notion of intent in both German and English. Though the workbook focuses solely on the correct conjugation of verbs, and does not look at word order in the context of full sentences, there are fixed conjugation patterns that students can learn, recognise and apply, ensuring that their spoken and written German is accurate, and that their understanding of German across the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing is robust. The resource has the following structure: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: German-English and English-German. Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in German across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation. Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in German, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in German. Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding German verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from an English prompt. Notes and Next Steps sheet, which encourages students to think about how their understanding of German conjugation works, what progress they have made, what their targets for improvement might realistically be, and what they might reasonably do in order to meet those targets. answer key Have a browse in my store for more German grammar activities, and a wide range of other German teaching and learning resources, with special offer bundles, resource boxes, and lots of freebies too!
