GCSE GERMAN KS4 GERMAN KS3 GERMAN KS5 GERMAN EUROPEAN COUNTRIES, CAPITAL CITIES, FLAGS POSTERS Files are non-editable in zipped format. The product is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, amended, rewritten, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use carefully. These German Europe flashcards / posters are always really popular with my students and great for the beginning of a new school year to decorate your learning environment with specific learning goals. They’re really useful for creating and instant and comprehensive introduction to Europe in German. There are 144 portrait posters (A4, 8.5 x 11) in German showing European countries, capital cities and flags. They give your classroom a great multicultural look and feel, at the same time promoting German as a living language, featuring in the everyday life of your - and your students’ - classroom. There may be a number of countries and capital cities that students do not know, or are not aware of, so the posters can help students develop their general knowledge and understanding of European geography. I’ve included a range of islands, such as the Faroe Islands, to extend students’ knowledge of Europe a little further, and I’ve also shown some countries, for example Armenia, that are often classed as belonging either to Europe or to Asia. I’ve also included two posters for some countries, such as France, officially known as Französische Republik - you can choose either that, or the more frequently-used Frankreich to display. The posters look great displayed horizontally across a particular learning area - alphabetically works well, though non-alphabetically is perfect for a country quest activity. They’re ideal for the annual Europe Day celebration, and the European Day of Languages, as well as an all year round display. It’s definitely extra prep and expense, but I do always laminate my classroom display posters / flashcards - they hang on the walls more easily, and I recycle them to display at different times of the school year. There are two backgrounds to choose from - World Map or plain, so 144 posters in total. My students find this Europe countries and capitals list freebie helpful: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/german-europe-countries-and-capitals-list-freebie-12133858 Have a browse in my store for more German resources, including German cross-curricular resources, special offer bundles and freebies. GERMAN FRUITS & VEGETABLES FLASHCARDS POSTERS

(1)
PRIMGERMAN FRUITS & VEGETABLES FLASHCARDS POSTERS two sets of flashcards @ $1.80 each in the bundle Das Obst und Gemüse auf Deutsch 25 fruits & 25 vegetables in German, definite article, masculine & feminine, singular & plural. Using flashcards to introduce and practice language is a popular and successful language teaching and learning method, providing lots of opportunity for vocabulary games and recall. The flashcards are equally useful as classroom posters, keeping key target language prominent and visible, as well as creating a really German ambiance in the learning environment. I use this set to gradually introduce and work on the concept of gender, and to provide speaking and pronunciation prompts, from the straightforward Was ist das? to Ja/nein or Richtig/falsch questions, which allow us to move to from one-word responses to more complex language, such as plurals or particularly negative sentences, which can be quite tricky in German, and often requires a lot of practice Nein, das ist kein Apfel, das ist eine Banane and so on. This kind of vocabulary is really useful for an implicit approach to introducing and practicing the accusative of articles too, for example Ich habe einen Blumenkohol, Ich habe den Blumenkohl. The key focus on on the definite article, both masculine and feminine, singular and plural, though I do use the set to start to compare these with the indefinite article, which I’ve found to be a really successful way of helping students embed grammatical concepts such as gender, implicitly, without the need for repeated explicit instruction. It’s good to move away from predominantly teacher-led activities, and after the initial introduction phase, I have students take turns manipulating the cards and asking the questions. Again, this is a really popular activity, and a very easy way of enabling students to practise asking questions, instead of always responding to them. The fruits are: green apples; red apple; bananas; cherries; dates; fig; green grapes; red grapes; kiwi; lemon; mango; nectarine; olives; oranges; papaya; peach; pears; pineapple; pumpkin; raspberry; redcurrants; rhubarb; starfruit; strawberries; watermelon The vegetables are: artichoke; asparagus; beetroot; broccoli; cabbage; carrots; cauliflower; celery; corn; cucumber; eggplants/aubergines; French/green beans; garlic; leeks; lettuce; mushrooms; onions; peas; red peppers; yellow pepper; potatoes; sprouts; spinach; sweet potatoes; tomato The posters are 8.5 x 11 (A4) portrait size. There are two backgrounds to choose from - German flag or black wave, so 100 posters in total. The fruits and vegetables are in my store separately, at £3.00 each. The files are non-editable in a zipped format. They’re copyright, all rights reserved. They may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed in any way. PRIMARY FRENCH TELLING TIME DISPLAY POSTERS These telling the time posters / flashcards are perfect for creating an instant introduction to telling the time in FRENCH. I’ve found that they’re really useful as visual prompts during lessons, as well as keeping the language fresh as students are introduced and practise how to tell the time. They’re ideal at any time during the school year, but especially as a BACK TO SCHOOL classroom decor resource - it’s good for students to have a focus on FRENCH in their learning environment - ideal for Primary French and Year 7 Beginner French too. The times are o’clock and half past the hour, including midday and midnight. There are two backgrounds to choose from - French flag or black wave, so 56 posters / flashcards in total. Laminate them if you can - they are definitely easier to manipulate if you’re using as flashcards to introduce and/or practise language, and also to display - you’ll be able to use them over and over again for years too. GERMAN TELLING TIME I HAVE, WHO HAS GAMES #1

(1)
KS3 GERMAN KS4 TELLING TIME O’CLOCK, HALF PAST, QUARTER TO AND QUARTER PAST THE HOUR - TWO GAMES, TWO DIFFERENTIATED CHALLENGES! I HAVE, WHO HAS? is a lively & communicative whole-group language learning game. The repetitive nature of the questions and answers, supported by the visual prompt of the clock faces, makes it perfect for practising, reinforcing & refreshing how to tell the time in GERMAN. The game has a multi-skill focus: listening, speaking & reading, with an important bonus focus on social interaction and participation. It’s perfect for pronunciation practice too. Half past the hour can be really tricky for beginner German learners, and these kinds of games really help to embed it. The aim of the game is to arrange the clocks in the correct order, starting with the first card, Es ist ein Uhr/Es ist acht Uhr, and ending with the last card Es ist viertel vor zwölf / Es ist viertel nach zwölf. Students can either create a human chain timeline, holding the cards themselves, or a card timeline, on the floor, a longish table or other flat surface. There are two games and two challenges: CHALLENGE 1 with the clock times in numerical order, and the Q & A Ich habe… Hast du…? CHALLENGE 2 with the clock times in topsy-turvy order, and the Q & A Hast du… Ja, ich habe… . This really encourages students to focus on their GERMAN clock times! Students can identify the particular challenge by the colour of the card - the font is also different, so printing is B&W is absolutely fine too. Play either as a whole-group game, or as a team game - which team can complete the challenge first? You can either play the challenges consecutively, or as a team game, swapping the challenges so that each team has a chance to play both challenges. This set features analogue clock times, 1-12, including midday and midnight, with o’clock, half past, a quarter to and a quarter past the hour. There are four cards with eight clock faces per page, which I’ve found to be the ideal size for students learning to tell the time, and with the multi-skill practice the games facilitate. The resource itself consists of a single, non-editable file. Please read the TERMS OF USE carefully - this resource is copyright, all rights reserved. My students love to play these dominoes games and find them a lively and interactive alternative to more traditional vocabulary and grammar ‘drilling’ activities. They enjoy being able to work and learn independently, and I give them regular chances during the school year to play. The focus is on 99 high-frequency GERMAN verbs in the infinitive form. There are 3 games, each with a differentiated level of challenge. CHILLOUT CHALLENGE features the verbs in alphabetical order, GERMAN to English CHAMPION CHALLENGE features the verbs in topsy-turvy order, GERMAN to English SUPERCHARGED CHALLENGE features the verbs in topsy-turvy order, ENGLISH to GERMAN - your students will really have to know their GERMAN verbs to complete this sequence in record time! I’ve included reference sheets of all verbs in both alphabetical and topsy-turvy order for students to use as a learning support resource. I’ve classed the game as suitable for ages 11-18, because it really does depend on when your students begin GERMAN - the games work well with any appropriate year group, depending on their starting point. There’s a bit of prep - printing and cutting out. I always laminate my dominoes games because they last for years, so laminating is definitely worth the time and effort. The resource is non-editable. At the same time, students are developing their French language skills: speaking, listening and reading in particular, as well as broadening their French vocabulary. We play both as a whole-group team quiz, and in pairs or small groups on a regular basis - students are particularly keen to see if they can beat their own points record, and are really motivated by their developing knowledge. The set contains all European countries and capital cities, including some island communities such as the Faroe Islands and Guernsey. Each question has 4 answers to choose from. The correct answer is given in capital letters. The quiz cards are numbered, but questions can be asked in random order too: simply place all the cards in a bowl, box or tin, and work your way through. There are two quiz challenges: Challenge 1 gives the country as a prompt, with four possible capital cities to choose from. Challenge 2 gives the capital city as a prompt, with four possible countries to choose from. This challenge uses the definite article in the responses to help consolidate students’ knowledge of the gender of individual countries . I always laminate my dominoes games, as they’re far more learner-friendly, and they last for absolutely years, so once you’re prepped the set or several sets, you will never have to prep the games again. PERFECT FOR PRACTISING & REVISING 99 ESSENTIAL FRENCH VERBS - 2 GAMES, 2 CHALLENGES! NEWLY-REVISED AND UPDATED RESOURCE WITH A THIRD CHALLENGE COMING FOR CHRISTMAS 2018! Dotty Christmas Dominoes are a lively and festive alternative to more traditional vocabulary and grammar 'drilling' activities. They encourage students to focus on high-frequency verbs and help them identify cognates and faux amis, learning quite independently of the teacher - the activity really does help to create a lively language learning environment. This resource features a further 99 high-frequency French verbs in the infinitive form, with their English equivalent. If you’ve got a particular focus on vocabulary and grammar, Sets 1 and 2 are also available as a bundle for £5.00 here: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/dotty-christmas-dominoes-198-high-frequency-french-verbs-with-2-levels-of-challenge-11173737 There are two levels of challenge in this set: CHILLOUT CHALLENGE, with the verbs in alphabetical order CHAMPION CHALLENGE, with the verbs in topsy-turvy order – your students will really have to know their French verbs to create a perfect dominoe sequence! The verbs are in the infinitive form in French & English, and reference sheets of all verbs in both alphabetical and topsy-turvy order are included – students can use these as a support resource, and they double as a whole-group pronunciation practice resource too. I've classed the resource as suitable for Years 9-13, but it really does depend on the age at which your students begin their French learning, as well as the level they are currently at – and aspire to. They are definitely one for the visual and/or kinaesthetic learner. The dominoes do take a bit of prep - printing & laminating. Laminating is certainly worth the effort and expense, as you will be able to re-use the cards for many Christmastimes to come. The resource comprises a single pdf file. Please read the Terms of Use carefully – this resource is copyright, and for single-classroom use only. Merci beaucoup et Joyeux Noël!
