ITALIAN CONJUGATION PRACTICE SAMPLER

(2)
INTERMEDIATE ITALIAN ADVANCED ITALIAN BEGINNER ITALIAN VERBS CONJUGATION PRACTICE FREE SAMPLER I’ve created a lot of ‘quick conjugation workbooks’ for my students and they’re really popular and effective. They’re a great way of practicing, reinforcing and revising how to conjugate all the various verb groups, tenses and moods in Italian. I use them in a range of learning contexts such as independent work either in class time or at home, holiday refresher work, or individual activities for cover lessons. Students really benefit from several opportunities to work through the workbooks, once or twice a term across a whole school year is a great way of both mapping progress and developing overall understanding and competence. The workbooks focus on specific 25 essential Italian verbs in a range of tenses. They include modals, regular, and irregular verbs. Each workbook is structured as follows: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: Italian : English and English : Italian Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation. Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in Italian, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation. Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding Italian verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from an English prompt. Notes and Next Steps sheet, which encourages students to think about how their understanding of Italian conjugation works, what progress they have made, what their targets for improvement might realistically be, and what they might reasonably do in order to meet those targets. answer key The contents are as follows: Italian high-frequency verbs list: Italian-English Italian -ARE verbs list: English-Italian Italian -ERE verbs present tense conjugation: Challenge 1 with answer key Italian -IRE verbs perfect tense conjugation: Challenge 2 with answer key Italian -ARE verbs: imperfect tense conjugation: Challenge 3 with answer key Italian high-frequency verbs future perfect tense conjugation: Challenge 1 with answer key Have a browse in my store for more Italian grammar activities, and a wide range of Italian language teaching and learning materials, with dollar deals, special offer bundles and lots of freebies too! ITALIAN DAYS OF THE WEEK WORD SEARCH FREEBIE

(1)
BEGINNER ITALIAN DAYS OF THE WEEK WORD SEARCH Word searches are a fabulous way of encouraging learners to engage with the written word in Italian, refreshing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This freebie features a word search focusing on the days of the week in Italian, key beginner vocabulary for Italian learners. This search grid is***Italian to English***, where learners are prompted with the Italian words, and look for them in Italian in the grid. For additional consolidation, the grid also features an English word list that they have to complete, really putting students’ knowledge to the test! Students can tell in which direction the words are written by looking at the arrow key on each grid. Having a good bilingual dictionary to hand is also a good idea, as this provides a further focus on developing literacy in both Italian and English, and facilitates learner independence. There is an answer grid for the word search, so that students can check their answers - or use for a little extra help if they need it. Answer keys also provide students with an additional opportunity to engage with language, and they’re a great teacher time-saver too, which is always a good thing! The word search is in landscape format, as I’ve found this to be the best format for English-speaking beginner learners of Italian, as it mirrors the common direction of reading from left to right. This kind of activity is really versatile too, I use them as starters, refreshers, plenaries or fun-time fillers at any time during the school year, as well as when I’m introducing days of the week in Italian. ITALIAN FOR CHILDREN BEGINNER ITALIAN NUMBERS CLASSROOM DECOR NUMBERS 0-21 WORD WALL It’s really easy to create an instant introduction to numbers 0-21 in Italian with this set of word wall cards. I like to do number guessing and calculation games at regular intervals too. There are two cards per 8.5 x 11 (A4) page in landscape format - the words are definitely big enough for children to be able to read from various locations in the classroom, so that we can really get the most of our learning word wall - we do lots of***guessing and spelling games, and quick vocab quizzes*** for example. SPANISH NUMBERS 0-31 I HAVE, WHO HAS?

(0)
SPANISH FOR CHILDREN BEGINNER SPANISH NUMBERS 0-31 Tengo ¿Quién tiene? This is a whole-group lively & communicative language learning game, perfect for practicing, reinforcing & refreshing how to count from 0 - 31 in Spanish. The game has a multi-skill focus: listening, speaking & reading, with an important bonus focus on social interaction and participation. It’s perfect for pronunciation practice too. The aim of the game is to create a Spanish number chain as quickly as possible, starting with the first card cero, and ending with the final card, treinta y uno. The game works just as well if the number sequence is placed on the floor, a longish table, or other flat surface. I created the game for my young beginner learners, but I’ve also played the game with my adult learners, who really enjoy it too - the monster theme is popular with everyone! The design is four cards per page, which allows for a large font - this is really important for beginner language learners who are starting to familiarize themselves with the written word. Try to print in color if you can - it adds to the visual appeal of the game, which is a real motivator for learning. Download, print out, laminate, cut out & shuffle the cards. I’d definitely recommend you laminate the cards, despite the extra prep and expense. They’re far more learner-friendly, and they will last for absolutely years. Distribute the cards, one or two per student, depending on how many students you have in your group. I often play too - students really do enjoy it when I join in, and they seem to work that little bit harder on their concentration, reading out loud and pronunciation. Students walk around the room, talking to each other in their best Spanish accent, sharing the information on their cards, until they have arranged the numbers in the correct order. The game works best played against a timer, regularly over a longer-term series of lessons - can students beat beat their own time record? I always do some high-speed counting warm-up activities, forwards & backwards, to get everyone ready to play! ENGLISH CONJUNCTIONS & CONNECTIVES LIST FREEBIE

ESL EFL ENGLISH CONJUNCTIONS & CONNECTIVES Create an instant reference resource for students focusing on high-frequency common English conjunctions and connectives, really giving English language students a flying start with their core target vocabulary, and enabling them to build an enriched range of language from the very beginning of their learning. I’ve found that the lists are a great learning support resource, and they’re really popular with students too. They work well when students keep them carefully in learning files or folders for current and future reference. They also work well printed double-sided and laminated for small-group work in class. This list is a collection of one hundred common English conjunctions and connectives that students will meet in the advanced beginner into advanced intermediate stages of English learning programmes - it’s an important step in learning is to ensure that students quickly develop a useful vocabulary bank, are able to recognize English conjunctions and connectives, and are confident with the meaning of those words in their first and / or home language, so that they can produce more complex and descriptive language and more complex sentences as soon as possible. Students shouldn’t take on the task of learning 100 conjunctions and connectives all at once though - this is more of a longer-term reference resource that students can use to audit their developing English vocabulary and use practically and creatively as they form more complex sentences. It is definitely the case that frequent and regular use in real-world practical contexts is far more successful at embedding vocab into longer-term memory. I encourage my ESL / EFL learners to create accompanying lists corresponding to their first / home languages. There are two backgrounds to choose from - England flag (which looks good as part of a vocabulary display), and black wave - students tell me that this makes vocab lists more visually appealing, which is really useful when they’ve got a lot of vocab to work through and learn. Have a browse in my store for more English Language vocabulary lists, and a wide range of other English Language teaching and learning materials, with special offer bundles, dollar deals, and lots of freebies. A great way of getting your students talking without feeling ‘on the spot’, or worried about not getting their pronunciation and accent right in front of the whole class. The Q&A prompt cards offer structured talk opportunities, and focus on vocabulary, structures and general knowledge that they are likely to meet in both the beginning and more intermediate stages of their English learning. My students apply their developing English knowledge creatively and practically by crafting their own questions and answers, using the prompts as speaking frames. With focused and frequent practice, they begin to feel more confident about their language skills, using the Notes and Next Steps pages in the reference book to jot down their ideas. We also use the pages to note how they think their skills are developing, and how well they are beginning to understand fully both the range of vocabulary and grammatical concepts. We discuss as a whole-group to what extent they feel able to ‘produce’ language spontaneously and accurately, and with little or no support or hesitation. Equally importantly, encourage students to note what steps they might reasonably take to improve in the areas that they don’t feel quite as confident about. The language in this set is ideal for advanced beginner English students moving into intermediate English, and feature a range of differentiated questions and answers, addressing various aspects of English, such as forming questions, the use of the present and present continuous tenses, word order and so on. This is really important for language learners, who often attempt to impose the grammar and structures of their first language onto the new language they are learning. The sample is free to download, but Terms of Use still apply. This sampler features five questions from Sets 1 & 2 of my English Speaking & Writing Prompts. They’re suitable for intermediate to advanced intermediate English Language Learning students. Speaking and writing are language skills that learners tend to find very challenging, and increased engagement with language that requires them to both reproduce language they are already familiar with, and to be creative with that language in order to produce new language is really beneficial. The questions in the sets are differentiated, addressing a broad range of ability, which aim to progress all learners. Tenses include present, future, near future, perfect and conditional. Question formats are likewise varied, to ensure maximum opportunity to work with the different ways to ask questions in English. Some questions seek to elicit very similar information, but are asked in different language: this avoids learners simply parroting learned responses to fixed prompts. The prompts are really versatile too, specifically with a focus on speaking and writing. There’s a 2-page prompts master list, which is useful as a general reference resource, and we also use it for reading aloud and pronunciation practice, discussing in what ways we might adapt and amend the questions to create new prompts. The prompts broadly address the following themes: college life & study; future plans; information technology; where I live; social & environmental issues; North America/UK & travel; social activity & daily life. I always remind my students that they do not have to ‘tell the truth’ in their responses! The important thing is to answer question correctly, appropriately and creatively. I encourage them to use the questions themselves as a frame of reference for their responses, and also when creating new prompts for each other, which is a really popular and successful activity too. My students have always found these a really useful learning activity. With the structured speaking prompts, they are able to develop confidence in their speaking, working independently in pairs or small groups. At the same time, they are building their vocabulary and enhancing their understanding and knowledge of English grammar too. There are 15 questions with 15 suggested responses. As students become more confident and competent, they begin to rely less on the prompt cards, and answer questions in their own way - and even ask them differently too, if their talk partner is using the answer card as the main prompt. The questions in this freebie are aimed at advanced beginner to intermediate English students, though my more advanced students enjoy ‘going back to the start’ too, particularly near exam time. There’s a reference sheet, with all the questions and answers written out in full - I always provide a reference resource, and my students like to keep them in their learning folders for longer-term reference. When they create their own questions and answers for each other on the question and answer card template, they also find them really useful as a form of writing frame. They are copyright, all rights reserved. They may not be copied, rewritten, amended, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use carefully. These 60 task cards are perfect for developing Italian language skills in general, as well as for practicing and revising how to tell time in Italian. There are 60 cards, divided into two sets of 30 questions, full answer key and a recording sheet. The cards have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling, and really help students develop more independence in their learning, moving away from more teacher-led tasks and activities. The questions are a straightforward introduction to, and practice of, quarter to and quarter past the hour in Italian. I generally work with telling time in Italian quite quickly with my beginner Italian students, as it lends itself really well to promoting speaking in the classroom, discussing daily routines for example. There are two questions: Che ora è? (1 o’clock, 5 past one etc) / Che ore sono? with a particular clock face, and students write the response on their recording sheet or in their workbooks. The second question is Vero o falso? and students write either vero or falso - where the answer is falso, remind students to write the correct time for additional consolidation. The question card template enables students to apply their knowledge of language and time creatively and practically, which is integral to successful language learning. It’s also a really popular activity too - my students really enjoy creating questions for each other. The set comprises the following non-editable files: Set of 60 question cards, 6 per A4 (8.5 x 11) paper. Laminating is definitely worth the extra prep time and expense, as the cards are far more learner-friendly, and stay in excellent condition for a long time, so you’ll be able to recycle them for years. 2-page answer recording sheet. Best printed double-sided to save paper. My students generally use their class workbooks to note their answers, though I do use recording sheets for more formal assessment purposes. 2-page answer key, again best printed double-sided, and laminated if possible. For me, answer keys are an integral element to this kind of learning activity. They offer students an additional opportunity to engage with language, and to develop more independence in their learning. GRAZIE MILLE E BUON APPRENDIMENTO!

The questions are a straightforward introduction to, and practice of, o’clock and half past the hour in Italian. They’re also a great teacher time-saver, which is always a good thing! I distribute one answer key per small group when we’re working with the task cards in class time. GRAZIE MILLE E BUON APPRENDIMENTO!

I like to give visual vocabulary lists to my young beginner learners of Spanish, as they can generally more easily assimilate new language and vocabulary when they are able to link it in their memory with a visual image, and it’s particularly important to match a clock time with the corresponding clock face when learning how to tell time. Children glue the lists into their Spanish vocabulary books, or file them in their Spanish vocabulary folders with other vocabulary lists, which gives them an accessible and useful Spanish vocabulary reference bank for both class and home learning. For young and / or beginner Spanish learners, I focus initially on a single time set, and this list shows o’clock on a single page. This is because in my experience students benefit from a very clear outline of new language and vocabulary, avoiding lots of text on a single page - even my older students who are completely new to Spanish prefer this. When I’m sure that students are confident with o’clock, I then move on to additional time sets. There are two backgrounds to choose from - Spanish flag, which I use for Spanish vocabulary display, or plain. **Try this super simple worksheets freebie, focusing on how to tell time in Spanish o’clock: HOW TO TELL TIME IN SPANISH : O’CLOCK WORKSHEETS FREEBIE https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/spanish-telling-time-o-clock-worksheets-freebie-12954132 Have a browse in my store for more Spanish visual vocabulary lists, and a wide range of other Spanish teaching and learning materials, with Spanish dollar deals, special offer bundles, and lots of freebies. ¡MUCHAS GRACIAS Y BUEN APRENDIZAJE!
