This resource has been created for the NEW OCR A-level biology specification but has much overlap with the AQA specification. The PowerPoint contains 22 high quality slides that alternate between teacher-led information slides and student-focused activities. There are options for making the content more student-led by printing the information slides for students to read and discuss in pairs and then attempt the activity that follows. I have provided the activities in separate files for those of you who prefer to print these from .pdf files. Every activity has a mark scheme integrated into the PowerPoint (and incorporated into the pdf) so that students can easily peer or self-assess. The content may take up to two lessons to deliver and should follow the Need for Transport Systems in Animals and the different types of circulatory systems (open vs closed, single vs double). The following topics are covered within this resource: Blood vessels: arteries, arterioles, veins, venules - structure and function The composition and role of blood, plasma, tissue fluid and lymph Capillary permeability and the formation of tissue fluid The lymphatic system and formation of lymph Hydrostatic and oncotic pressures This lesson should then be followed by The Structure of The Heart. This is an entire lesson series for the Chapter: Populations and Sustainability for the NEW OCR A-level specification. There are a total of 111 PowerPoint presentation slides partitioned into individual lessons with identifiable lesson objectives. This scheme of work has been developed to engage your students through an array of different learning activities and will form the basis for the entire lesson series. It comes complete with answers to activities and questions so you don’t need to spend the time hunting for answers. This revision resource is designed for OCR A-level Biology but is equally suitable for other boards. This resource contains: a worksheet for the topic on Transport in Animals and Haemoglobin model answers for the worksheet information cards exam questions mark scheme. This resource is easily differentiated by students choosing to use the information cards or completing the worksheet independently. The model answer sheet/key is included for either peer/self assessment. Students that finish early can be looking to extend their understanding by completing the exam questions with mark schemes. The worksheet and information slides are very detailed therefore it is recommended that they be printed in A3 for use. I have included pdf versions in addition to the powerpoint files as powerpoint, opened in different versions, can cause some formatting issues. The powerpoint files are there so that you can edit the resources, if you wish to do so. This resource is designed for OCR exam board with much overlap with AQA exam board. It contains a worksheet of short answer questions illustrated with diagrams of the different carbohydrate molecules students must be familiar with. Questions have students practicing their recognition and drawing of biological molecules, including condensation and hydrolysis reactions. There are summary activites to complete on simple sugars (glucose, fructose, galactose, maltose, sucrose and lactose) and then a further summary activity on all the important polysaccharides (amylose, amylopectin, glycogen, cellulose). There is a mark scheme included for all summary activities. The resource ends with a selection of exam questions including multiple choice, short and long answer questions. Mark scheme included. pdf files have been included for ease of printing. Word documents included for ease of editing.
