These lessons take inspiration from the poem Troglodytic Owner-Occupier by By Nick Toczek. Reading: Attached are 3 lessons of reading resources which focus on visualising, clarifying and retrieving for meaning as well as inference. The poem is also provided with widget visuals to help SEND pupils. Writing: This unit (6 lessons) takes inspiration from the reading unit. Pupils create their own creature and write a poem about. Lessons focus on features such as: repetition, imagery and rhyming. Starter work comprises of uplevelling and punctuating sentences and small paragraphs. I have left my teaching ink on the slides so you can see how the resources are used and these are easily deleted with one click using PowerPoint. There is also a WAGOLL which is an example pupils can pull out the features to help them before writing their own. A fun unit that children have enjoyed and suitable for pupils aged 7-11 (although may suit UKS2 better). Thanks
