This assembly is aimed at the upper Primary School age range. It was written for the British Values theme Democracy, and would fit with many other general assembly themes. It covers how Benazir Bhutto, as a female Pakistani politician, was able to act as a role model for millions of girls and women. Benazir showed determination and perseverance in the face of all odds.

The focus for this assembly is a short poem written in 1915 by Dr John McCrae. It is suitable for the whole Primary age range and encourages pupil participation in discussion around the subject of Remembrance Day. The learning intentions are:
• I am beginning to imagine what it must have been like to have been sent to fight in a war.
• I can understand some of the beliefs of those who were involved in wars.
• I know some things about how war impacted on families.
It is one from the Festivals theme by Mirror Assemblies but it also fits with many common Primary School Assembly themes like #Loyalty #giving #determintation #peace etc.
