This maths time task uses skills of interpreting tables ,calculating units of time,solving problems,ordering and extends to drawing a time line graph.
Themed around Paultons Park showtimes and the zoo keepers schedule, the timetables have to be read and understood to answer questions about timings. The maths extends to have to solving problems for visitors to the park organinsing their day and to helping the zoo keeper organise a rota to keep the animals clean!
Rollercoaster wheels need polishing !The maths in this task includes identifying equivalent fractions represented visually and is themed around wheels.
The visual representation of wheels help to show the equivalence in size and the task requires the wheels to be shaded to show this equivalence. This is a good activity for visual learners to transfer the concepts of equivalence.
This Maths task includes finding the area, drawing shapes of a set area, calculating irregular area shapes and ends with an area investigation to explore.
The maths is themed around puddles at Paultons Penguin Park zone. The shapes are irregular and require counting whole and half squares. The skills are also used in reverse to allow drawing to a specified size. The task ends with an open ended challenge to investigate different shapes with the same area.
This task includes read ,write and convert between 12/24hr plus a.m ,p.m knowledge and sets a time problem to be solved for a Paultons Park school visit.
The maths is themed around Lost Kingdom and places to eat and drink at Paultons Park. School groups often have a day plan to get to all the experiences.The timings of this are presented in a timetable to interpret and a problem has to be solved to calculate how many rides the group will enjoy ! Time durations will also have to be calculated for shopping and dining locations at Paultons Park.
