Pupils explore metals and casting in creating an art-deco inspired jewellery piece. Pupils design in a booklet and then use 2D Design to design the mould to be laser cut from 2mm MDF.
Pupils then design and manufacture a user-centred organiser. All pupils receive a piece of 18mm plywood which then can use as a base, then design around that. Very open ended and pupils enjoy the freedom in which this project allows.
Scheme of work, examples, booklets and powerpoints included.
This project was designed to last around four weeks where pupils were given a length of 4x1" softwood, a 150x150x18 piece of plywood and a 150x150x2 piece of MDF to create a storage box with a focus on quality assurance and quality control.
A lesson designed to be delivered online whereby information on the changes is delivered by the teacher and pupils focus on one or more of them to create a summary in the form of a video or campaign etc.
This is a small booklet aimed at Year 9s who will be starting GCSE Design and Technology in September.
It includes key terms and an overview of timbers, metals, polymers and smart/modern materials.
Could be a good starting point for you.
Enable macros on this workbook for the generator to function properly.
This crude excel spreadsheet allows you to input many different questions that you may ask as part of your usual retrieval practice routine, except that it generates a random question from material you have taught and assigns it to a random member of the class.

Aimed at KS4+, this guide will allow pupils to explore the basic tools of OnShape, including creating parts and assemblies with a range of application tasks at the end.
This unit has been designed for Year 9 pupils to build confidence in sketching. Pupils learn about basic skills and build upon these each lesson.
Pupils will use the DTDOT/DTMicroDOT when sketching in isometric.
Applied activities include the design of earbud headphones, a hairdryer and a fragrance bottle.
At the end of the unit pupils complete a product analysis on a three-pin plug.
