The 2023 Government Reading Framework advocates a strategic approach to nurturing a reading habit rather than relying on an eclectic mix of activities. This booklet aims to provide practical ideas on how to develop a strategic approach to motivate pupils to read, including developing a R4P pedagogy, giving staff time to develop their knowledge of texts, providing space and time to read and chat about books, providing access to diverse texts,monitoring attitudes and behaviours during R4P time and building reading communities. This resource includes 4 bookmarks for each of the year groups: Years 3&4, Years 5&6 and Years 7&8 with a fiction menu of ten or more titles on each bookmark and 4 bookmarks for each age group there are over forty recommendations for each age group. Each age group has a different bookmark for: Empathy, Fantasy, Adventure/Thrillers and Funny and includes a diverse range of authors, characters, narrative styles and lengths.
