This pack includes guided reading plans for the following text: Millions by Frank Cottrell Boyce (Years 5/6) In total there are 11 guided reading lesson plans, covering each of the sections in the book. Each plan contains a 'reading and responding to the text' activity which is designed to be completed with the class teacher with the reading group. There are then follow up independent activities which the children can then complete during the remainder of the week. All of these activities are closely linked to the new National Curriculum objectives and these are listed at the beginning of each plan. Each plan also has a list of difficult words which the children can check the meaning of before the teacher led session, space to list the names of the children who are working on the text and a space for a teacher notes and evaluation. The plans have been written by an experienced primary school teacher and have been tried and tested in the classroom.

This Teach, Practise, Extend PowerPoint resource focuses on semi-colons. In total there are three slides: Slide 1 - Definition of the two different ways that semi-colons are used with examples. Slide 2 - Four sentences where the children add information in a list which includes semi-colons. Then, five sentences where the children complete the sentence where the semi-colon replaces a connective. Slide 3 - Ten sentences where the children write the first part of the sentence before the semi-colon. These A4 differentiated word vocabulary mats are an essential tool for any child and would be perfect laminated and stored in boxes in the middle of the table. The mat focuses on writing a persuasive advert. The mat gives helpful sentence starters for the beginning, middle and end of the advert as well as possible adverbs and adjectives that could be used. There is also an example of a persuasive advert that the children can use to uplevel or improve their own piece of writing. The attached images show each mat but each pack includes: Mat 1 for the less able pupils (one A4 sheet) Mat 2 for the middle ability pupils (one A4 sheet) Mat 3 for higher ability pupils (on A4 sheet) Mat 4 - an example of a model persuasive advert (could be laminated back to back with one of the above mats) The resource is colourfully designed with the colours linked to the language through colour system.
