Chilli pepper maths challenges are a differentiated approach to solving maths problems. This year 5 pack contains differentiated questions from each area of the Year 5 curriculum. The objectives covered are different to those covered in pack 1. This allows children to choose their level of challenge or alternatively direct children to where you wish them to start. Great for additional practice or assessing children's understanding. These A4 differentiated word vocabulary mats are an essential tool for any child and would be perfect laminated and stored in boxes in the middle of the table. The mat focuses on writing a letter of complaint. The mat gives helpful sentence starters for the beginning, middle and end of a letter of complaint as well as possible adverbs, conjunctions and adjectives that could be used. There is also a model example of sets of a letter of complaint that the children can use to uplevel or improve their own piece of writing. This pack includes guided reading plans for the following text: The Firework Maker's Daughter byPhilip Pullman (year 4/5) In total there are 7 guided reading lesson plans, covering each of the sections in the book. Each plan contains a 'reading and responding to the text' activity which is designed to be completed with the class teacher with the reading group. There are then follow up independent activities which the children can then complete during the remainder of the week. All of these activities are closely linked to the new National Curriculum objectives and these are listed at the beginning of each plan. Each plan also has a list of difficult words which the children can check the meaning of before the teacher led session, space to list the names of the children who are working on the text and a space for a teacher notes and evaluation. A great revision resource for Year 5 pupils (useful for Year 6 too though) There are two test papers included within this pack 1) An arithmetic paper presented in the same style as the Year 6 SATs paper. This contains 36 questions covering a range of topics which are based on the Year 5 National Curriculum objectives only. 2) An arithmetic paper but with the questions presented in word problems. The numbers are the same as in test paper 1 but the questions are presented in a word problem format to help encourage and develop reasoning skills. The answers to the 36 questions are provided at the end of the paper. This could be given to pupils in timed conditions or alternatively children could work in pairs or small groups to help aid revision. The questions included on this paper are based from the Year 5 National Curriculum objectives only so do not follow the pattern of the SATs paper where the questions start off easy and get progressively harder.

Year 5/6 Great at Grammar - Autumn Term Pack - newly updated to meet the demands of the New National Curriculum. We are pleased to announce that this resource has been updated to meet the demands of the new National Curriculum with the objective listed at the top of each activity.
