This product is a set of 70 task cards up to the value of €5.00 or 5 €. Each card shows a combination of coins up to a particular value which pupils add up and write the total in the space provided. Content • 70 Task cards • Answer Keys • Recording Task Card Sheet • Blank task cards • All eight coins • Flags Write and erase You can print, laminate and cut out the cards for pupils to practise adding up coin values. Ideal for early finishers and for those pupils who need more practice in adding up coins. Print off, cut out and glue into workbooks You may wish to record pupils’ work and so this resource is great for cutting out and sticking into workbooks or onto plain paper. Pupils do not have to work through the task cards in number order. Whatever ability the pupil is at, you can choose the appropriate task card. There is a Recording Sheet with space for the pupil’s name and date for when each activity card was completed. Alternative uses I have included blank card and coins which you can prepare to suit the needs of your pupils. E.g. Write the amount of money on the right-hand side of the card and then pupils cut out the coins to match the amount of money you have written down. Pupils can cut out the little flags and stick on the blank task cards. For small group or one-to-one activity Lay out cards that have the same value but different combinations of coins. Ask pupils to match the cards that add up the same amount and elicit what coins were used on each card. E.g. Both cards add up to 50 Euro cents but one card shows 3x 10c and 1x 20c and the other card shows 2x20c and 1x 10c. Please see Preview Pane for sample of product. This resource relates to Canadian money - giving change. There are 50 task cards/activities. Content: 50 numbered Task cards Answer Key Recording Sheet Money Reference Sheet There are two task cards to a page. The task is in two parts: • First students add up the coins/money in the first column and write the price of the item. • The middle column shows the money used to pay for the item. • Students work out the change using whichever method they are comfortable with and then write the change given in the last column. The recording sheet can be used to write the date each card was completed. Great for early finishers and/or you want to review money with your students. This resource is on US currency - pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, half dollar and one dollar bill. The worksheets are in color and black and white. WITH ANSWER KEYS Each of the four worksheets contain a variety of tasks for students to complete on the topic of buying school supplies/stationery. Worksheet 1 - Students look at the pictures and price of each item and then work out how much two items of school supplies cost. Two questions at the bottom: Which student spent the most? Which student spent the least amount of money? Worksheet 2 - This worksheet is similar to the above except students are working out what 3 items of school supplies cost. Worksheet 3 - Students answer 6 questions about the items, e.g. Which item is the most expensive? How much less do the crayons cost than the ruler? etc. The next task is to write the new price for each item which has risen by 9c. Worksheet 4 - The first task is to write the new price of the items which have risen by 20c. Second task - to add up 3 items of school supplies at the new price. Worksheet 5 - Sale Now On! - Students recalculate the new price of each item because they have been reduced. (Subtraction). Additional worksheets: Drawing coins to match the price tags - Students use the fewest number of coins as many times as they can. Add coins and write the total on the price tag for each item shown. This resource is primarily aimed at EYFS/Reception and Year 1 as it relates to counting to 10 and writing addition sentences using a Tens Frame. The only preparation is to print and laminate the A4 size task cards. Content: • All Task Cards are also on PowerPoint Slides • 10 Counting Task Cards - PDF • 25 Addition Task Cards - PDF • 2 Blank Ten Frames • Teacher Notes Counting Task Cards The cards are on PowerPoint Slides and as PDF activity worksheets which you can print off and laminate. Students count the counters or dots and write down the number. You can do this activity as a whole class. Play the PowerPoint Presentation and students can either say how many counters they see or write the answer on their whiteboards. 25 Addition Task Cards The addition task cards are on PowerPoint Slides. Hand out whiteboards/dry erase pens. Show one or two slides. Tell students that There are two blue blank boxes below the tens frame for students to write two addition sums. Ask: How many blue counters do you see? Ask: How many yellow counters do you see? Now tell the students to write an addition sum using the plus and equals sign and then to show you on their whiteboards. Ask: Does it matter which way we write the addition sum? And would it change the answer? You can print out the task cards as they are also saved as PDFs and laminate for students to practise write addition sums two ways. Other suggested uses Learning about doubles. Select some of the addition cards including those with the same amount colours on each card, i.e. 1 + 1; 2 + 2; 3 + 3; 4 + 4; 5 + 5. This resource relates to statistics on the topic of dot plots. It introduces dot plots on PowerPoint (12 Slides). The presentation demonstrates how the data was collected, rearranging data in numerical order, and presenting the data on a frequency table. Using the information on the frequency table, students are shown how to create a dot plot/line plot via Slide Show animation. Two detailed examples are shown. Students can even work through one of the worksheet activities displayed on the PowerPoint and then share their solutions. Worksheet activities If you are looking to introduce your students to two-step addition and subtraction problems then these worksheets are suitable just to ease the students in. There are no trick word problems. There is an opportunity for students to use their own methods of solving the questions and share with the class. Other Suggested Uses You can use the activity sheets in small group work and one-to-one teaching. You can use manipulatives to explain the problem and highlight what needs to be written down to solve the two-step equations. For example, Activity 35: use real paper to solve how many sheets of paper are left in the school secretary’s printer. Early Finishers Use the worksheets as an extension to your lesson on two-step math problems. Aimed at: Reception/Year 1 If you operate a carousel system in your class, you can place the different activities on the tables for children to practise number work/patterns. Content and Description Includes Teacher Notes • Counting in ones missing number sequence worksheet – Children complete sequence by writing the missing numbers in the heart. • Number bonds to 10 and 20 - x2 sets of worksheets – this is a cut and stick activity. Children cut out a broken heart on worksheet 2 to match and stick to a broken heart on worksheet 1. The hearts add up to 10 on one set of worksheets; and then add up to 20 on the second set of worksheets. • Counting using Tens Frame – Pictures are placed in different positions on the tens frame. This resource is on the hundred square and the 1-120 square/grid. Students gain practice in moving up and down in tens and matching tens and ones/units grids to the numbers on the hundred square. Referring to the hundred square to complete word problem questions. If you are looking for some hundred square activities, then resource is ideal for use in lessons, review and homework. Answer Keys included. Content: • Worksheet 1 – (2 pages) - Students complete the hundred square from 1 to 100. After completing it, there are 11 questions to answer. • Worksheet 2 – (2 pages) - Students fill in the partially completed hundred square. After completing it, there are 7 activities to do. Three of the activities include students shading in every two jumps for counting in two, every five jumps for counting in fives and every ten jumps for counting in tens. • Hundred Square -Tens/Ones Activities (A to E) Students work out what each tens and ones grid represent and write the number in the circle and then shade in the number on the hundred square. The first example has been done. • 2x Cut/Paste missing numbers puzzle on a hundred square. Students will see that there are missing extracts of grids from the hundred square. They cut out the grids and glue them in the correct spaces on the hundred square. • Missing numbers on a hundred square. Students will see parts of a hundred square which they complete with the missing numbers. • 10 More than/Less than Word Problems. This is a St David’s Day theme product which contains five different maths activities. Optional preparation: You can cut out the puzzle pieces and have children assemble them or get the children to cut out the sheets of puzzle pieces and they can assemble and glue onto a separate sheet of paper or into their workbooks. Content: Differentiated puzzle pieces for children to match up numbers 1 to 10 and 11 to 20. The puzzles are in colour and b/w. Match up numbered gold coins with a picture of a dragon in the centre by drawing lines to the correct tens frame or twenty frame. Count gold coins and draw line to match with the tens frames. Bar Chart Worksheet in colour/b&w with differentiated questions: Worksheet 1 with 8 questions and Worksheet 2 with 11 questions (with Answer Sheets). Pictures: dragon, daffodils, leek and traditional Welsh black hat. Cut/Paste Picture Patterns Activity with Answer Sheet - children the picture(s) that comes next in the sequence. They are also given the opportunity to create their own picture patterns.
