Simpson and his donkey with factsheets and worksheets. This is a PowerPoint presentation on one of the most well-known ANZAC, John Simpson Kirkpatrick and his donkey. It is a resource linked to ANZAC Day and bravery. This resource relates to ANZAC Day on 25 April. Clear and straightforward - Ideal for assemblies or as a standalone lesson. Each slides takes you through what ANZAC day is and what it means, symbols are explained (rosemary, laurel and the poppy), why do we need ceremonies and what a typical ANZAC day ceremony involves, the dawn service and why people march. During the presentation students are asked questions that relate to their personal experiences of celebrations and why the Anzac spirit legacy is still important today. Children look at the picture and say what it is. They then unscramble the word in the centre and write it out correctly using phonemes previously taught.
