This resource relates to St. George’s Day (23 April). In contains: A Presentation (48 Slides) on St. George. The presentation starts with a welcome to the whole school. It then shows a stain glass window of St George and arrows pointing to the cross and the shield with St. George cross. There are questions and answers throughout the presentation to involve the children. It is divided into sections:- Background to St. George’s life Courage Around the World The Legend Celebrations Reflections It ends with a prayer relating to courage. A detailed Teacher’s notes on assembly referring to each slide Follow-up worksheet There are follow-up activities in the presentation that children can find out about using non-fiction books and the ICT, e.g. find out more about countries that celebrate St. George’s Day. A short playscript for assembly - this is optional if you want a group of children to act out the legend. Please see preview pane of some of the slides in the presentation.

Alphabet resource for display and alphabet activities. This resource contains the following:- Teacher’s Notes • Aa to Zz frieze showing pictures beginning with initial letter. Laminate and punch holes and thread through with a string to hang around the classroom or peg onto a washing line across a wall/classroom. Aa – Zz word strips and related pictures • Laminate and cut out • Can be used as an extension activity. Children trace round the initial dotted letter which shows a picture for that letter. Alphabet cards • Alphabet cards should be printed off twice, laminated and cut out. • Children can play alphabet snap • Other games – lay out 4 or 5 letters in alphabetical order ,e.g. k, l, m, n, o, cover them over. Take a letter away without the children seeing and ask what letter is missing. • Matching lower case to upper case letters activity. Practise writing frames using Sassoon dotted font • These are in upper and lower cases. Each one should be laminated. • After focussing on e.g. ‘t’, children can practise writing over the dots and then without the dots as handwriting exercises. Alphabet Mat Practise (trace over dotted letters) Photocopy these and laminate • Children can keep it in their trays for reference; • can practise their handwriting if they finish their work early or for those children who need to practise fine motor skills. Practise writing frames using Sassoon dotted font • These are in upper and lower cases. Each one should be laminated. • After focussing on e.g. ‘t’, children can practise writing over the dots and then without the dots as handwriting exercises. Alphabet Mat • Can be laminated and blu tac to the wall in the writing/reading/book corner. • Can be used to assess a child’s phonic progress. Alphabet Pictures Games/Assessment • The pictures represent the start of a letter e.g. ‘g’ for grasshopper. The pictures are not in alphabetical order so that you have to look for the picture. • Enlarge the A4 size sheet to A3 and the sheet with the alphabet tiles. • Laminate the Alphabet Pictures grid • Laminate the Alphabet sheet then cut out each letter for use with Alphabet Pictures grid. • Children can play in pairs. A timer can be set so that children have a limited time to place the letter on the correct picture. • Players take turns to ask his/her partner to find the picture beginning with, e.g. ‘s’. The player picks out one of the letters and places it over the correct picture sound on the Alphabet Picture Mat. This resource is on the topic of Saint George and The Dragon legend. A great introduction to myths and legends. Aimed at: KS1/2 The legend of St. George the dragon-slayer is on PowerPoint. The Presentation includes whole class activities and comprehension questions. Children are encouraged to participate in discussion about the story and check their understanding. The second PowerPoint Presentation explains what mythical stories are and why they were told (6 Slides). The third PowerPoint Presentation is on different dragons for whole class activity and to prepare children for their worksheet activity. The resource also contains:- Flexible detailed lesson plans covering 3 lessons (includes learning objectives and plenaries). Each PowerPoint slide is referred to in the lesson plans. Lesson 1: Children are presented with the legend of St. George and then there are 7 comprehension questions. The Myths Presentation is also referred to set the story in context. Differentiated worksheets - With support - LA children read, cut/paste sentences to match pictures; MA/HA write sentences for each picture using time words. Extension: Complete George’s Day Factsheet (colour in/3 questions). Lesson 2: The lesson focus is adjectives. Children review describing words using the Dragons Presentation. Build a word bank of adjectives; model sentence for describing dragon on Slide 12). Differentiated Activity 1 - LA children label the dragon and then write simple sentences after colouring it in. MA/LA - Draw/colour in their dragon and write sentences describing it. Early finishers: Print off one or two dragon slides for children to describe. Lesson 3: Retelling myth in own words. Quick review of the story. Children draft their story and also use their description of their dragon in the previous lesson to add into the story. There is a worksheet to write up the final draft.

Please note it is a hands on resource and the lesson plan should be used in conjunction with the presentations as there is a lesson starter presentation. It can be used for reviewing tens and ones or teaching it from scratch, so the detailed lesson plan is flexible. Some preparation is needed to carry out the activities such as collection of different coloured straws, elastic bands, suggested materials such as counters, unifix cubes; cut out the 1 digit number tiles for the worksheet or you can get children to select two numbers from a pile, write it down and then describe the place value - see 5. in the list below. This product contains: Lesson Starter PowerPoint Presentation - Counting in tens from 0 to 100 and back. Also included is the Hundred Square if you need to demonstrate counting in steps or groups of 10. This product relates to counting activities, missing numbers (writing in words and figures) and finding more or fewer. Aimed at: Pre-K/K As you play slides 3 to 4 the children count aloud the numbers. Slide 3 is from 1 to 10 and Slide 4 from 11 to 20. You have the option of using Slides 5 to 26 for more counting from 0 to 20. It is a 70 slide PowerPoint presentation which includes the following whole class activities: • General counting 0 to 20. • Counting leprechaun pictures • Working out ‘How many more…?’ • Working out ‘How many fewer…?’ • Counting pots of gold and then saying which has more gold coins • Differentiated missing numbers grids 1 to 10, 1 to 15, 1 to 30. <strong>Independent Follow-up Work</strong> There are 4 activity tasks for the students to undertake. Activity Sheet 1 (x22)– Students read the number in the circle and then cut out that number of gold coins. They then tick which pot has more coins. Count and color activity (x3)– More counting practice – there are too many counters in each grid. The students read the digit in the green box and then color in the required number of coins to match the digit. Missing Numbers and Words (x2) – numbers 1 to 10 grid, 1 to 15 grid and for the more able 1 to 30 grid with missing numbers to fill in. Students write in the missing numbers in the grid. This phonics pack focuses on initial consonant blend ‘pr’ CCVC words. As with the other consonant blends packs: it is child-centred and child-friendly and Phase 4: Letters and Sounds Phonics. Aimed at: Foundation stage and Keystage 1, SEND and ESL/EFL students. It is an addition to my other resources on initial consonant blends. This pack contains: Flexible Lesson Plan with learning objectives, lesson starter, main activities and plenary - You can choose which parts are relevant to your class. PowerPoint slides are referred to in the plan. Because the lesson plan is flexible you can choose a 15 min phonic input, 30 mins or an hour phonics input. PowerPoint Presentation 1 (29 Slides)- includes explanation of initial blend, CCVC words and whole class activities to prepare children for their independent activities. It also explains meanings of words through pictures. This product relates to UK sterling money pounds and pence. Its aim is to encourage students to use different skills to find solutions to a two-step problem. Aimed at: Keystage 1/Lower Keystage 2. Ideal for revising adding up coins and to finding how much more money to pay for an item. The worksheets start off with small denominations and then it increases to 50p and £1. There are 60 differentiated worksheets. Worksheet 1 - up to 10p (11 pages) Worksheet 2 - up to 20p (11 pages) Worksheet 3 - up to 30p (12 pages) Worksheet 4 - up to 50p (12 pages) Worksheet 5 - up to £1.00 (14 pages) <strong>Description: </strong> The worksheet is divided into 3 columns. The first column contains the price of the item. The second column shows the coins the customer uses to pay for the item but unfortunately it is not enough. The problem is in two parts: - Add up the total amount of the coins and write it in the blank box. Find out how much the customer is short by, i.e. how much more he/she has to pay and then fill in the box. The space above the box in the third column is for the student to show their workings out.
