In the fast paced world qualities such as kindness can be overlooked, but research indicates that showing and receiving kindness support a lift in mood, making us feel happier and reducing anxiety. This presentation looks at the research and the benefits of being kind, what you can do, what the obstacles may be and the positive impact of volunteering. It includes links to videos, with timings so you can ascertain if they fit with your timing schedule. There are also optional discussion points and links to further reading and sources. It outlines some of the King’s history and education, his particular interests and looks at the pomp and ceremony of the day. Osteoporosis Week comes at the beginning of June, but this could be part of PHSE at any juncture. The lesson discusses what the condition is and how it can affect the body, but also looks at preventative members and poses the question of why young people should be thinking of this/be aware now. In many ways it contributes to supporting a healthy diet and exercise regime, also highlighting the contributing factors of alcohol and smoking, eating disorders and steroid tablets. This lesson is designed to raise awareness around the issues of hate crime on a basis of sexual orientation and gives opportunities to discuss why crimes may go unreported and what is being done to increase understanding around hate crime and reporting.
