Students will be thinking about going off to uni/apprenticeships and this presentation discusses big and little issues they may encounter and how to deal with them. It approaches the idea of preparing for challenges and thinking about how to cope, while also exploring the fact that it is natural to have different reactions and that seeking help is a strength. This is an introduction to some of the women composers whose names may be less familiar than their male counterparts, despite the undoubted contribution they made. It offers a chance to find out more and begin to understand the struggles they had. It could be part of Women’s History Month, or serve to support Gatsby Benchmarks 3 and 4. This presentation is a complete lesson with optional discussion points, but can easily be adapted to be used for an assembly by taking them out. It outlines some of the King’s history and education, his particular interests and looks at the pomp and ceremony of the day. Osteoporosis Week comes at the beginning of June, but this could be part of PHSE at any juncture. The lesson discusses what the condition is and how it can affect the body, but also looks at preventative members and poses the question of why young people should be thinking of this/be aware now. In many ways it contributes to supporting a healthy diet and exercise regime, also highlighting the contributing factors of alcohol and smoking, eating disorders and steroid tablets. This lesson is designed for early in the academic year to support students new to sixth form to appreciate the value of academic reading. It coincides with various September dates such as Read a Book Day, International Literacy Day and E-Book Day. This short presentation introduces students to Sofonisba Anguissola, an accomplished woman painter from the 16th/17th century. At a time when men dominated the professional art world, Sofonisba made a career at the Spanish court and beyond, was mentored by Michelangelo and blazed a trail as a leading portrait painter. This presentation could support Gatsby Benchmarks 3 and 4 and demonstrates what dedication in the face of obstacles can achieve.

This lesson is designed to coincide with World Sexual Health Day on 4 September, and deals with understanding more about sexual health and consent.
