I made these planning sheets to try and encourage students to answer the bullet points at foundation tier with more spontaneity and to try and prevent students being reliant on full sentences (not allowed to be written on the CN2 form). My students have found these really useful as the pointers in English have helped them to answer the questions quicker, to say more and to be more accurate. I hope that you all find them useful too.

This retrieval/do now starter is based on vocabulary linked to describing a region and can be done after studying the topic. Ideal for GCSE and or KS3 it includes: a photo task, finding synonyms, spelling check and an adjective task.

This is a quick revision activity for students completing GCSE French Edexcel. It is the top 20 most common words that are used on the candidate role play cards. Students have to translate the words from English into French using the wordsearch for support. There is a reminder about adding accents to words that are found in the wordsearch. An answer for the wordsearch is also provided on the worksheet too.

This is a powerpoint and a worksheet lesson targeted at the introduction of opinion verbs and simple reasons. It was designed for Y7 but it is a fun way to revise opinions with any year group too.

There are two resources attached. The powerpoint activity slides contains templates of grids that can easily be used to present vocabulary in different ways. It is a massive time saver. It also contains templates for worksheets such as true/false/not in text and match up. The second resource are powerpoint activity slides of activities that you can use for consolidating new vocabulary in lessons. The pictures correspond to French and German. This board game is for KS3 and or GCSE. The game is best played by the teacher setting a time limit. Students travel round the board and have to complete various translation activities of either ordering drinks or saying the part of the waiter/waitress by landing on squares and collecting cards for a correct translation. It is a fantastic activity to help to build confidence and so that students can master key phrases and drinks vocabulary. It also contains some simple opinions too. I would advise that you print the waiter cards on one colour and the customer cards on another. At the end of the time limit students count up their cards and the student with the most is the winner. The vocabulary needed for this game includes phrases such as: Je voudrais Je vais prendre Mon ami voudrait C’est combien? C’est tout? A mon avis C’est vraiment

This bundle is a collection of worksheets that consolidate student learning mainly through matching up vocabulary and short translations. All of the worksheets can be used in class but are also fantastic for cover or for non specialists as the majority of the vocabulary that students need is inbuilt into the sheets.

This was made for a PHSE lesson. Students had to assess a presentation. The criteria incorporates elements of Blooms and key literacy skills for Speaking and Listening skills. The levels relate to positions in industry.

This is a board game that I made to encourage students at KS4 to use the present tense to describe a picture where in English we would use the present continuous. It is based on the 80s board game Home You Go. Students can work in pairs/fours to play the game. Each team will need a dice and six counters each. Students may need to have some understanding of the formation of the present tense first or be well drilled in key verbs. The game also contains other useful photo card language too. The activity lasts between 10 -15 minutes.
