Playscripts Year 4

(1)
These playscripts allow children to create their own play while learning the features of the play-script also. I have attached fairy tales that are turned into playscripts. The features that they will learn how to use are: *Cast list * Scene Headings * Character name and : * Stage Directions The first lesson allows children to create their own list of the features of a playscript by finding them themselves. This exploratory, paired learning works best when it comes to the end product at the end of the week. Children are encouraged to choose a fairytale that they already know to alter slightly, to make the actual story part easier. There is a SPAG lesson included also on adverbs. This will help children to use them for the stage directions also.

The Heliocentric Model- this lesson teaches children about another model of the Solar System in which was believed by another Ancient Scientist. This lesson requires children to make a jigsaw of the model and figure out which planets have been included/left out. There is also an aspect of role play, for children to act as the planets rotating around the sun. Included: *A powerpoint presentation *A jigsaw activity where children re-make the heliocentric model. *A detailed lesson plan. *True and false statements to sort. It is a follow on lesson from others in which I have uploaded but can be taught as a stand alone lesson also. To see a more in-depth snippet of this product, please see my preview :)

This package includes a lesson plan and a wealth of images and templates to carry out 4 different art activities. We spent the full day focusing on art from different artists such as Picasso Monet Romero Britto and many more. The learning objective is: How do I create different tones of one colour using different media, exploring shape and pattern? Success Criteria: I can discuss the work of artists. I can mix paint to create different shades of blue. I can keep the colours clean by using a clean brush to mix. I can make an observational drawing I can combine pastel colours to create an illusion of colours mixing. I can create a repeating pattern using tone to add depth. Children will create 4 different art pieces using many different techniques all based around our theme of the colour blue.

Critical Thinking in Mathematics: KS2

10 higher level thinking questions for deepening understanding and developing mathematical language Having studied in a course based on AFL strategies, I have a new found love (so to speak) for asking higher level questions during lessons to evoke discussion between students. The more they discuss concepts, the deeper their understanding will grow. With this in mind, I created these colourful cards to be cut, laminated and given to my year 4 class once a week to create ‘colourful’, intentional discussion. As we are all aware, there are many different types of learners, and children remember 90% of the information that teach someone else. Therefore, by engaging in critical thinking in maths, they will essentially be “teaching” their partner why their reasoning is correct through having to “prove” it to them. My class adored this and the intentional discussion kept them engaged in the task for much longer as they had to get their personal opinions across. If you have any questions or would like to see more of these resources, please leave a review.

A wonderful week of Literacy lessons planned and resourced here for Year 4 Persuasive Writing. This is week 1 of persuasive writing unit which I did last year and have made some improvements. It immerses children in persuasive language and techniques to persuade their reader. These lessons are based around 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' and by the end of the week, children will create their own advertisement for a new chocolate product. Children are taught to use: *exaggeration *word-play *snappy slogans *tempting benefits *eye-catching illustrations and writing This resource package comes with a wealth of resources to ensure that all children understand and utilize the persuasive techniques needed to sell a product. (On the plus side, it's about a chocolate product, which keeps it interesting for them). Prepositions are taught as a starter also to incorporate SPAG into the week of Literacy. This package included: -a clear, detailed lesson plan -3 different powepoints -printable advertisements to annotate -illustrations for children's products -success criteria -planning grid Please leave a review and let me know what you found useful or not and I'll be happy to update the resource.

I created this document to hand out to my parents at the beginning of the school year. It’s a short snippet of activities that parents could engage with with their children. There are 7 pages, including: *Some sample questions to ask children while reading. *Rate out of 10. To allow children to form opinions on what they’ve read. *Re-tell the story. To allow children to order parts of the story. *Change the ending. This allows children to take their understanding to another level. *Strategies for parents when reading with their children. See my preview for a clearer idea of this resource.

Angles- Year 4/5- OBSERVATION

**OBSERVATION LESSON** A co-worker of mine asked would I plan a lesson observation with them on angles. A few years ago, I taught a similar lesson for an observation. Basically, this resource contains: A clear, detailed and differentiated lesson plan A simple but colourful powerpoint to use as a guideline 3 activities differentiated into high, middle and low Angle creators with arrows (just print, laminate and secure with a split pin). This lesson aims to engage a variety of learners. By using the angle creator, visual and kinesthetic learners can practically make the different types of angles that are being taught in this lesson. (Acute, obtuse, reflex, right angle, straight line angle) HA are extended by asking children to label the angles found in 2D shapes and how to measure them by using a protractor. The plenary asks children to spot angles in the clock face. A really enjoyable lesson. Please review.

Adding and Subtracting Fractions: KS2

This resource contains a detailed lesson plan, powerpoint and lesson starter to help you teach children how to add and subtract fractions with the same denominator. I spent a long time making this resource as I wanted to ensure children understand how to use the correct terminology i.e. numerator, denominator, whole etc. The powerpoint is extremely detailed and contains pictorial representation as well as numerical to satisfy the needs of visual learners also. The powerpoint also contains key questions, encouraging children to explain 'why' something happens. This is very effective for the overall understanding of adding and subtracting fractions. The activities are on the powerpoint, hence why there is no activity attached. There is also a challenge embedded in the plenary aimed to be completed in mixed ability pairs, in order to push on the high ability children and secure the understanding of the class. Please leave a review if you liked this resource and check out some of my other resources also: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resources/shop/Morrisr9

Romans Planning Week 1

(0)
This resource consists of a history and geography lesson on the Romans. It is the first week in each subject on the topic of the Romans. In History, the children will be thinking about the term history and what it means. They will then discuss and fill in a KWL chart based on the Romans, which is a nice little assessment tool. The children will fill in what they Know about the ROmans and what they Want to know about the Romans. This provides an interest into the topic and children will hope to have their curiosities answered by the end of the topic. The L section of the KWL will be left until the end of the topic where children will fill out what they have Learned. In Geography, the children will be looking at which countries were occupied by the Roman Empire. This lesson looks at using compass skills and atlas work also, which is a great geographical skill in itself. This resource comes with both a history and geography plan, along with two separate presentations to use in the lesson. They are saved as notebooks. If you do not have notebook viewer on your computer you can download it for free online so that you can avail of these presentations. KWL and SEN resource included. Please review this resource :)

I’ve added these key terms (in yellow) here for you to create a working wall for your English display. These headings can be kept up all year round, even when you change genre. All you need to do is to change the work around it, accordingly. See my blogpost on my blog to see how exactly I use this display in my class. (Note: only the headings in yellow and the clouds are included).

********END OF TERM MATHS INVESTIGATIONS ********* I'm not pawning this off as my own, I did not make these resources so therefore I will not be selling them. I am simply bundling them together as I spent an hour looking for a week's worth of activities for maths next week as an end of term type thing. I did make the planning myself, so I have attached this. However the other resources I found on TES and I thought they were amazing! Just trying to save someone the time in looking for a long time. Hope you enjoy :)
