The History of Boy Bands lesson and supporting resources provide an extremely detailed account of Boy Bands and the development of this genre throughout Pop Music history. It covers from very early “Dop-Wop” groups in the 1920s and 1930s all the way through to the modern boy bands, K-Pop and TV talent contests. The material in this resources would easily cover 2 to 3 lessons over roughly 2 weeks. The presentation covers the development of Boy Band music and how this changed over time with a total of 27 slides. George Gershwin was an American composer and pianist who lived from 1898 to 1937. He was born in Brooklyn, New York and began his music career as a “song plugger” in Tin Pan Alley, playing and promoting sheet music. As a composer of popular music and Broadway musicals, one of his most pieces of work is the opera “Porgy and Bess” 1935, which included the hit “Summertime”.

This lesson and supporting resources provide an extremely detailed account of music, technology and society across the generations and how this has changed over time. Starting from the Lost Generation in the very early twentieth century and all the way through to the latest Alpha Generation. This massive lecture/presentation, along with all the learning resources would provide a great outline of modern history, also highlighting important historic and social events and a detailed blueprint for music listening habits and music technology. It covers major elements from each generation, these being: Outline and reason behind generation name Social Outline Common technology use during this time Audio technology of the time Top songs and singles of the era Outline of generations music Famous Artists from the generation The material in these resources would easily cover 4 to 5 lessons over roughly 5 or 6 weeks. The presentation covers the development of music and recording technology and major historic events of each time with a total of 51 slides. Moreover, there are over 50 embedded videos throughout the lesson linking to YouTube and providing an excellent addition to the resource. This resource also comes with 3 classroom tasks that can be completed alongside the lesson/presentation, also with integrated videos, and will aid learning and revision for learners. Moreover, there is a “Link” exercise, this testing student understanding and knowledge. Each of these Tasks come in a “No Style”, black and white print out or an attractive, “Styled” version to help engage learners. This resource also comes with TWO infographic resources to aid learning. This covering interesting facts on generations and their music and also important events to remember from each generation. Finally, there is the presentation in video format. This can be used to aid learning, shared to smartphones and tablets and used as a convenient resource for learners to watch back. This lesson and supporting resources provide an extremely detailed account of Music Censorship throughout the ages and some great examples as to why certain pieces of music may be censored. Music Censorship refers to the practice of editing of musical works; basically, changing it somehow so that it is different from the original composition or arrangement. This might be because of offensive language for younger audiences, the theme and subject matter that the song is about, and a great many more variety of motivations, including moral, political, or religious reasons. This detailed lecture/presentation, along with all the learning resources would provide a great outline of music censorship and a detailed account as to why some songs may be banned or edited. The material in this resource would easily cover 1 to 2 lessons, with a detailed presentation that also has a classroom task and worksheet for learners to complete throughout the lesson or as a homework task. Moreover, the presentation has more than 30 slides, many with embedded YouTube links to aid learning and used for examples.
