This is a complete scheme of work including a range of engaging tasks to captivate a KS3 group or lower ability KS4 group on Shakespeare’s less frequently taught Much Ado About Nothing.
This resource is a collection of 6 Literary Non Fiction articles traversing subjects such as Travel, Poverty, London, Class, Men and Women and Schooling. Hopefully this will save others a little time when teaching this part of the English Language courses that use this aspect of our literary heritage.
An outstanding observation lesson based on David Didau's Slow Writing Technique. These resources include an exam style starter activity, exemplar writing and activity, strategies for improving writing, progress checker, peer assessment and a lesson plan. I have used this lesson several times and every time get excellent evidence of progress across a full range of age groups....
This resource is a constructed question based on Inspector Calls and an extract from ‘The Glorious Heresies’ by Lisa McInerney in the style of the OCR exam paper. This is available as a single resource or as part of a package attracting generous discounts. If you would like a bespoke bundle please message me on Twitter @JoMarsh1 with details…
This bundle includes all 15 of the Relationship Poems from the Edexcel Anthology. This is all you would need to teach these poems and would save you hours in research and preparation. Each resource is prepared to observation standard using the mark scheme and is fully differentiated, including SMSC links, peer assessment and engaging activities that draw on numeracy and literacy. I have bundled these as a part collection to allow a reduction to the overall cost. The bundle price is better than half price, in case you want to try one before you buy the rest whilst ensuring it remains an absolute bargain!
If you would like a bespoke bundle please contact me on Twitter @jomarsh1 and I will put it together for you at the same discount.
After the success of my first compilation of Dingbats images I’ve now created a further mind bending quiz, this is perfect to fill gaps in tutor sessions or PSHE closers and has SMSC content embedded throughout. This would work with students from year 7 upwards.
This is so much more than a quiz, it asks questions but also answers them in detail, using PEE paragraphs, full explanations and text references. The questions include challenges relating to language, structure and context and conclude with a 'big question' before offering guidance on how to respond to the question (which links to some of the prior questions) and essentially a homework task.
This powerpoint is heavily differentiated using images and bonus questions to support and stretch.
If a student has not 'got' this text, this powerpoint should go a long way to filling gaps. If you find this useful please do leave a review.
If interested in a marking service for the resulting essays please contact me on Twitter @jomarsh1 as this is also available, subject to demand.

This Literacy Programme is 2 of 3 for use with year 9s across an entire term and forms part of a newly written programme that builds on the strengthened demands of the KS2 literacy skills and the Year 7 and Year 8 Programmes also available on TES. This resource includes a PDF version of the programme plus an Adobe version that is editable so that the name of your school/behaviour policy can be incorporated into the documents. The powerpoint presentation is used to test the weekly skills gained by your students and allows you to track progress and build in additional intervention for areas of shortfall post completion. The subsequent booklets for use in this Programme will be posted imminently.
This bundle includes all of my individual resources for Book 2 and includes a wide range of differentiated activities across all chapters in the latter part of this novel. The final powerpoint in the collection includes a range of whole text activities. I have also included the Revision Guide which can be bought separately and have included an attractive discount to ensure that people who have already purchased that feel they are getting good value.
With few revision papers available for use this is another 19th Century Fiction Paper based on the novel 'Lost Hearts' by M R James. the resource includes a mark scheme and indicative content. This extract is a ghostly tale and a good one to use for analysis of tension/setting rather than characterisation. This is a very accessible paper and would be useful practise for both KS3 students doing a 'Supernatural' Unit of work or for KS4 lower ability to build confidence.
This bespoke resource on Blake’s The Tyger is designed for use with the Edexcel IGCSE curriculum but is equally useful in teaching Unseen Poetry skills required across all of the IGCSE and GCSE English specifications. These resources are designed for a low/middle ability group and as such are highly supported and differentiated. Challenge/extension tasks are included here and every step of the process is checked for understanding, reinforced and modelled to ensure all students make maximum progress. Tasks include individual work, paired work, whole group work and peer ‘teaching’ (at a low level, but is designed to encourage students to become independent learners).
My students enjoyed the variety of tasks included here and I could really see progress in terms of being prepared to ‘try’ out plausible answers based on this poem. I hope your students take as much from this resource as mine did!

This lesson is designed for teaching on the International GCSE specification or as an Unseen Poem as it both explores this poem and teaches students how to approach a previously unseen text. The activities are engaging, active and nurture enquiry in a supported way.
An engaging lesson that includes a range of activities including: clozed activities, quotation finding, creative response, oral discussions and close textual analysis. Further resource and bundles to follow on the rest of the novel.

Available as a single Act or as part of a complete Unit of Work at a discounted price.
This lesson takes students through a range of questions and foci on Betjeman's poem. This lesson encourages students to refine independent enquiry skills and concludes with a paired and peer assessed essay task broken into segments for ease of access.
These resources offer a thorough exploration of this poem and its context through a range of engaging and creative activities. The lesson is fully differentiated with supportive images and tips for lower ability students and regular challenges for the higher ability students in your groups. These resources include a highly visual activity which could easily be used as part of a Poetry Display. This lesson covers context, form, language and structure through independent activities and structured guidance. If you like this resource please leave a review and have a look at my other poetry resources in my shop @https://www.tes.com/teaching-resources/shop/joannammarsh or follow me on Twitter (JoMarsh1).
This assembly uses music, interesting facts about New Year, an inclusive ‘hands up’ activity and challenges students to adapt their approach to setting new year’s resolutions and instead aim to be more reflective and make changes all the time to ensure they achieve successes in their education, personal and emotional lives. This assembly draws on facts that traverse a range of cultures and is overtly linked to the SMSC agenda. This would be a perfect assembly to use as a first assembly back in 2020 and will save you thinking/planning time over the festive season.
A tutor/end of term film quiz accessible for seccondary students of all ages/abilities - varied clues including audio and visual slides makes this a fun activity.
This resource takes students through a range of engaging activities in order to instil a love, understanding and ability to analyse the text, in terms of language, structure and thematic links. This is everything you need to teach Act 2 of this play, activities are designed to be pick and mix if you are tight for time.
