This is a great tool for sending home weekly homework. It is one A4 page, that you can fill in exactly what you want the pupils to complete. It has a section for mathematics, literacy, topic, reading, a section for the pupil to assess how they found the work, as well as a parent comment section. This colourful sheet should help when setting homework – plus it gives you chance for pupil and parent feedback.

Old and new toys - sorting

This activity can be used to help children understand the difference between old and new toys. Children are presented with several pictures. They are encouraged to talk about each picture, discussing what they can see, and whether they think the toy is old or new and why. Children can then glue the pictures onto the correct side. This activity develops children’s speaking and listening skills along with their understanding of time. It is advisable to show children a selection of old and new toys before completing this activity, so they can see the difference between them.

A fantastic resource which can be enlarged to encourage children to talk about and identify what animals they might find at the zoo. It is great to encourage them to speak, think about the types of animals found in a zoo, what they look like, what they might eat, sound like etc. So many speaking opportunities. Children can create their own zoo scene using the animals.
