Interactive Addition Activity: Build a Spaceship

Interactive Addition Activity: Build a Spaceship is a fun and easy craft for your children or students to put together and either paste in their math journals or hang up as a decoration on the wall of the classroom. Cut out the parts of a spaceship and piece them together, then add up the numbers in each spaceship part to come up with a sum to enter into the tailpiece of the spaceship. The spaceship parts can contain easy (single digit) or challenging (double digit) numbers, and can be printed out in color or in black and white so that your students can complete the coloring themselves. Back to School Icebreaker: All About Me Fun Frames Writing Activity will get your students writing details about themselves on a fun printable, and participating in discussions with other students. There are five printables included with this packet: The first two printables include All About Me questions. There is a template for a girl and a template for a boy. Students can answer the questions and color in the printables as they wish. You can then display the printables your students have created on the classroom wall. The second two printables are frames-only pages with the labels removed that you can use to enter your own questions for your students to answer. Students can color in the printables when they have finished answering the questions you supply them. The final printable is a coloring page based on the question-and-answer printables. Farm Animal - Hide and Speak Spanish Vocabulary Game is a fun way for your students to review farm animal vocabulary words while getting up and away from their desks. Instructions: 1. Print, cut and laminate the different problem cards, using as many cards as you'd like. You can either glue popsicle sticks to them or/and punch holes through them and use yarn or string to hang them up. 2. Place the cards in various spots around your classroom, or go outside and place them in different locations in the yard or playground. 3. Give each student a pencil and a grid to record his or her answers. Your students might also bring along clipboards so that they have something hard to write on. 4. The students will walk or run around the room or yard to where the cards are hidden. When they find a card, they will see what its card number is, translate the word, say it out loud and record their answer next to the corresponding card number on the grid. 5. You can play that the first student who answers all of the questions is the winner of the game, or (even better) you can play where everyone who finishes the game and answers all of the questions correctly is a winner. 6. If you wish, when your students have the complete set of words answered on their grids, you can reward them with a treat of some sort. The Crayon Colors Creative Craft is a fun and interactive craftivity for your students to complete individually or as a group. First, students will cut out and fold the crayon boxes to serve as folders for their crayons. Next, they will cut out the individual crayons, and then draw pictures or write words of items of that particular color inside each crayon. You can brainstorm colorful ideas as a class or you can have your students come up with their own ideas. After completing the nine crayons, your students can paste the pieces of the crayon container together to make an envelope. Finally, your students can store their colorful crayons in the folder. There are two versions of this booklet; a pre-colored version that students can cut out and use, and a black and white version with which students can color their crayons themselves.
