What’s included?
This download includes x7 A4, portrait pdf 2D shape sheets featuring x36 matching cards.
Who’s it for?
This resource has been designed for early years children, pupils in years one and two as well as older students needing additional learning support.
What’s it for?
This resources is to name, count (the sides of) and match 2D shapes to the correct word label. There are x4 ‘answer cards’ included in the set which clearly list the pairs of shapes (pictures and names) on page 4. Learners could use these to help them match the cards or refer to them after they have completed the matching activity, encouraging autonomy.
How to use this resource
This matching activity has been designed to be an activity for an individual or group where the square (cards) are already cut up (and hole punched!), shuffled and displayed either loosely on a table top/carpet or already attached on the ring. Learners then look at each 2D shape image and (if they are able) name this. Learners can also count the number of sides of each shape and match the picture to the name label to complete the set. Once the set is matched into pairs (images and labels together) learners can then order the pairs from the least number of sides to the most (or vice versa!)
2D shapes included are oval, ellipse, semi circle, circle, triangle, equilateral triangle, right-angled triangle, square, rectangle, trapezium, parallelogram, rhombus, pentagon, hexagon, heptagon, octagon, nonagon, decagon.
This 2D shape matching set could also be used as a reference resource for learners e.g. to help remember the number of sides and/or cross-check the name/spelling of individual shapes if unsure when writing these down.
This ‘shape match’ set could also be used for a variety of ways, both inside and outdoors (especially if laminated to improve durability in all types of weather!) Hide and seek match could make a fun game where one half of the set (e.g. all the 2D shape pictures cards or all the name label cards) are missing and learners need to find them and match them up.
Suggestion
Brightly coloured plastic keyrings (which can be easily opened by unclipping the plastic) as seen on the main resource image are ideal for this resource and can be purchased online easily. Alternatively string or thin ribbon would work well. If a small piece of velcro was attached to both ends of string/ribbon with some strong glue this would help learners to be more independent using this resource.

Both versions included have clear starting dots as well as ‘tracing dots’ to follow for every letter. On one the learner writes onto a pale grey which shows each letter shape, on the other the learner writes onto a white letter with a clear grey outline defining each letter shape, encouraging/guiding learners to remain ‘within the lines’.
The font used is Sassoon Infant Std - size 100.
This activity has been designed to write straight on. Lines (under each day of the week) are included to model how letters look when positioned on a line.
There is a clear space at the base of each sheet for learners to write their name and a space at the top (right) to record the number date (to help keep track of progress, over time if these completed activity sheets are kept).

What’s it for?
As said, these CVC cards have been designed to be printed double-sided on card to use with the ‘Function Machine’ (~instructions of how to make one of these included) to practise sounding out simple CVC (Phase 2 phonics) words - learners read each word then push the card into the top function machine slot and can see if they are correct when the picture pops out of the slot below.
This activity has been designed to be a simple, interactive, predictable activity to promote independence and consolidate learning. This activity is ideal for individuals to be getting on with independently.
How to use it?
An adult needs to print these card (double-sided) onto card and and pre-cut the cards into x10 separate rectangle cards.
The set of cards can then be placed on a table top, positioned with a ‘Function Machine’ for learners to use on their own or perhaps with adult support (initially). Learners read each word by sounding out the individual phonemes, they then push the card into the top slot of the function machine and find out if they are correct when the picture pops out of the lower slot…
Phoneme ‘dots’ have been included under every grapheme so that learners know how many sounds to say as they read (sound out) the words.

This pdf download includes x3 landscape orientation sheets featuring x7 colour ‘splats’ with colour name labels with clear step by step instructions to create colourful acetate/cellophane colours for (window) display.
What’s it for?
These colours have been designed to install and sense of awe and wonder - the coloured shapes look so beautiful when the sun shines through them and where the colour ‘falls’ depends on the position of the colours in relation to the sun which changes as the sun’s position changes. The set gives an opportunity to showcase the whole set of colours together as a focus to encourage learners to recognise and name each colour. The colours can of course be repositioned and displayed as you choose. I have included a ‘Colours!’ label to be displayed with the set of shapes.
This resource would also support work on shadows and light/dark.

The colours all have a colour name label which is in the font ‘Sassoon Infant Std’ - size 45. There are x3 pages. The first page includes clear instructions with two colours, the second page includes remaining colours in the set and the last page the ‘Colours!’ word label.
Suggestions
I recommend printing and making these letters out of white card - paper would be too flimsy and see-through so not effective. A set of coloured acetate/cellophane sheets is needed to make these - these are quite inexpensive on Amazon(!)
I recommend also backing every colour in white card so that the coloured acetate/cellophane is concealed - this looks so much nicer on the window and makes each letter stronger however is twice the work and time and to do this x6 sheets of A4 white card will be needed (instead of x3 sheets).

This set focuses on tricky words, all ‘nouns’ - all words included have a matching image.
This is a simple, predictable activity to promote independence and consolidate learning. This activity is ideal for individuals/groups to be getting on with independently or those needing some individual 1:1 support.
How to use it?
An adult can pre-cut along dotted lines provided and the set of x17 words (and images) can be shuffled and placed face-up on the carpet/a table top for learners to look at carefully and try to match.

Pages 1 and 2 both include x4 sentences, each in a separate box, illustrated with a simple image on the right. Both pages include the same instructions at the top - making it clear to learners that there are x3 mistakes in each sentence and what these mistakes might be.
Mistakes may be spellings, capital letters, finger spaces and full stops. There is a clear space for learners to write their name at the base of both pages.
The words included and spelling errors make the level of this activity aimed at learners who are learning Phase 5 phonics. Sentences include words containing Phase 5 sounds (ea, ay, a-e, aw, ph) as well as a knowledge of common high frequency words including she, you, his, are, and, said, see, their, not, with, at, the, to, do, that, can, in, loved, dad. The pictures provide clues to assist reading unfamiliar words (e.g. lions, zoo, sheep, lambs, chicken, grapes, bake) to encourage learners to use a range of reading skills when decoding these sentences if they are not at a level to read them on-sight.

Pink triangles indicate that the words are from ‘phase 2’, purple triangles indicate that the words are from ‘phase 3’ and turquoise triangles indicate that the words are from ‘phase 5’. The ‘key’ at the top of each sheet also makes this colour coded system clear.
In the cut/match sheets the same colour coding has been used - a pink box outline for words from phase 2, a purple box outline for words from phase 3, a turquoise box outline for words in phase 5 and a grey box outline for words in phase 6+.
You can use this colour coding to help you introduce the words (and cut/match sheets) according to which phonics level your learner/s is/are at.

What’s it for?
This resource has been designed to encourage learners to investigate the various lines of symmetry within x8 2D shapes.
This investigation can be done by cutting/folding (ideally first) then recording these finding by drawing the lines of symmetry (using a ruler) onto the shapes on the sheet. Black and white AND colour versions of both sheets (cut/fold, drawing lines versions) included.
Who’s it for?
This resource has been designed for pupils in years one and two as well as older students who need to revisit this or students needing additional learning support.
This resource may also be suitable for children in EYFS although with younger ages it would probably be a good idea to upscale the sheets to a larger size (on a photocopier/scanner) first.
How to use it?
The learner can explore lines of symmetry in two ways, either using a pencil and ruler or cutting out the shapes and folding them to investigate the lines of symmetry.
Suggestion
I would encourage learners to investigate the lines of symmetry within these 2D shapes by first cutting out the shapes (using the colour/black and white version designed for this - see pages 3 and 4). Once pupils have investigated these by folding they could then use pages 1/2 (colour/black and white) to record their findings with a pencil and ruler.
Using safety mirrors along side cutting and folding AND when recording the ‘answers’ (using a pencil and ruler) will really help pupils to become clear and accurate in their mind as to whether they have found the line of symmetry.
Important…
Pupils should be encouraged to find the middle/centre of each shape first and ensure that they fold/draw a line ‘through’ this centre point in order to be accurate in their findings.
Answers are included on a separate page in the same format which learners could use for quick, easy reference.

Like those sets this set (9) includes four designs, each numbered and each slightly differently according to the design and level that best suits your learner/s. Pages 1 and 2 are the SAME activity sheet but at TWO levels - with MORE support (page 1) and LESS support (page 2). Both activity sheets are for practising sounding out and writing words.
Page 3 clearly shows the ‘answers’.
How to use it?
Resource 1. An adult prints these two pages out (ideally onto card) and cuts along the dotted lines, including to separate the ‘letters/images/words’. Instructions are also included (left side). The set (of cut up letters, images and words) can then be placed on a table top for learners to match - the correct initial letter with the image AND word - as a ‘three part’ mini jigsaw puzzle. Each (correct) letter and word only fits the corresponding image.

How to use it?

What’s included?
This download includes x2 resources which have been designed to use separately AND together. In total there are x24 pdf sheets, portrait orientation in colour. These resources are designed around the Phase 2 phonics sounds MDGOCK.
One resource is matching grapheme/picture word puzzles - x10 images for the sounds m/d/g/o/c/k.
The second resource involves sounding out these words and writing them - using sounds only in Phases 2 and 3 - perfect to practise and reinforce Phase 2/3 sound knowledge. This (second) resource is differentiated with a more and less supported version depending on your learners’ needs, the difficulty level is identified as an icon at the base of each sheet (right side).

Grapheme/picture match puzzles
The tick in each image box (top right) indicates that this image is a word which can be sounded out.
How to use it?
An adult prints out ‘Grapheme/picture match puzzles’ sheet onto card and cuts along the dotted lines, including to separate ‘letters/graphemes’ from ‘images’. The set of cut up letters and images can be placed on a table top for learners to match as a ‘two part’ mini jigsaw puzzle. Each letter only fits the corresponding image.

Resource 2 Details
Writing words resource
Pages 1-2. Learners are to sound out and write the words for the images featured on the sheet, one image per box. These sheets are differentiated - page 1 is easier to complete (than page 2) as lines (to write on) show how many sounds are in each word.
Red lines/letters indicate a sound which may be difficult to hear clearly when the word is spoken, e.g. ‘cricket’ is often said as ‘crickit’ with an ‘i’ sound. Learners may need help with these (red) letters/sounds.
Page 3 clearly shows the answers.

This resource is to recognise/read and match words/vocabulary to 2D shape images to reinforce/develop further understanding of 2D shapes and their properties.
Resource Details
The seven 2D shapes investigated in this activity are a semi-circle, circle, triangle, square, rectangle, pentagon and hexagon.
Learners will need a pencil (to write their name on page 1), scissors and a glue stick to complete this activity.
Page 1 features the Robot’s ‘control panel’ which has been enlarged from page 2 to provide a large size and clear space for learners to label the different properties of each shape. The dotted lines on page 1 indicate where learners should position the different labels. Learners do not cut out any part of page 1!
Page 2 includes four sets of labels (there are exactly the correct amount of labels provided to complete each 2D shape featured. These labels are the names of the shapes, the number of sides each shape has, the number of vertices each shape has, whether the shapes have ‘curved’ sides (only two do - the circle and semi circle). The green ticks can be stuck next to these two shapes. All labels have dotted lines indicate where to cut.
Page 3 includes the same 2D shapes on the robot’s control panel to cut out and hold (to investigate). It would be most helpful for learners to have access to a set of these while completing this activity especially for learners who do not know the information (to complete the labels).
An adult could pre-cut the labels for those learners who struggle with using scissors/find cutting difficult or de-motivating.

The photo shows how this resource looks which complete. The idea is that learners move the capital letter alphabet strip left/right to show a different capital letter. They then ‘post’ the matching lowercase alphabet letter (carrot!) into the rabbit’s mouth. This is an ideal activity to keep learners busy and independent.
I have included two versions of the letter ‘k’ as some learners may be more used to the look of one style than the other. There is also a ‘blank’ carrot included in case one gets lost.

What’s it for?
This download includes a game (for up to x6 players) to practise ‘counting in 2’s’ (up to 50) using pairs of socks as a helpful visual guide. This game has been designed to encourage learners to think about ordering two’s numbers separately from the predictable counting pattern. Learners will still need to use their knowledge of counting in 2’s to help them but through playing this game their ability to recall the sequence of 2’s number will be called on.
Resource 1 details
Counting in 2’s ‘Sock number cards’
x5 sheets featuring pairs of socks numbered from 2 up to 50.
Printing these ‘sock cards’ onto card (instead of paper) will prevent the numbers being visible through the paper when placed face down to play the game (helping to increase ‘fairness’ / eliminate cheating!)
Resource 2
‘Washing Line Game Boards’
x6 sheets, six different colours are included - red/yellow/green/blue/purple/pink.
Simple instructions (as well as what is needed to play the game) are included at the top of every ‘Washing Line Game Board’.
Resource 3
x1 sheet which includes x7 Counting in 2’s number lines to 50 with socks. There is one black and white (neutral) version and one colour to match each of the ‘Washing Line Game Boards’ so each player can have their own number line to assist them during the game (if needed).
Game tips
use a counting in 2’s socks number line if needed (more challenging without)
Remembering where players return 2’s number cards to the grid will increase players chances of winning!
to increase winning chances encourage players NOT to choose to keep the ‘same’ cards (showing the same sequence of counting in 2’s) that other players are collecting.
There are not enough of every sock number card for everyone to successfully choose and use the same sock number cards for their sequences.
