This is a complete lesson covering sections 6.3.3 e and f of the OCR A level Physics specification- uses of electromagnetic induction. It opens by considering a simple alternator as a means of generating electricity. It then goes on to discuss transformers and the transformer equation including how to derive the transformer equation from Faraday’s law and the power equation. It discusses ways of investigating transformers and can act as an introduction to Physics PAG 11.1. The lesson closes by considering transformers in the national grid and at home. The lesson includes a starter, full notes, various student led activities and a differentiated summary at the end. All answers are included.
