Geography Maps, Vikings, features
This is a Power point to support delivering a lesson to lower Key stage 2. It includes comparing maps, looking at features, encouraging student discussion and setting the scene of designing your own map. It also supports the importance that a key has on a map.
Fully editable you will be able to personalize with maps of your local area if you wish. As default this is linked to Birmingham and West Midlands.
Fits in well with Viking topics as it offers suggestions to Viking Runes and themes.
There is a slid that contains a quiz that could be printed out for students and also a grid for students to draw on or use to demonstrate the size of grid to draw on square paper.
I have used this lesson with Year 3 - if you’re not doing Vikings you could easily adapt it to the historical period you are studying to keep a cross curricular feel.
