A one hour lesson focusing on descriptive writing, suitable for a mixed ability Year 7 or 8 class. You need to print out slide 5 for students to highlight or annotate. You will also need a selection of images of people or settings/people in settings as the unseen images. My lesson also includes a glossary of the key terms for any students who may have forgotten what a simile is etc.

Postcard Template - great for starters or plenaries

I have used my postcard template for starters or plenaries, writing as a character or an observer. They can be used for peer-review of writing. The students could write a postcard to their favorite author or historical figure. So many uses in all different subjects, not just English.
