A grid which contains the most important verbs for Junior Cert (GSCE level) French in the infinitive, present, past and future tense. Very useful for students of any age/level/class. My students love it and it's their 'go to' resource for all written exercises. A must have resource for teaching French!

A 5 page word document with lots of key and useful phrases for French writing, particularly for expressing opinion on a topic/'what do you think' questions. The handout is separated into different headings e.g. to introduce ideas, to express opinion, feelings, agreeing with a statement, disagreeing, general etc... Also includes a variety of different tenses. Very useful for Leaving Cert/A level students.

Four PPTs on weathering... 1. An introduction to denudation and weathering as one process of denudation 2. A PPT on mechanical weathering (freeze-thaw action) including a simple animation, easy to copy diagrams and photos 3. A PPT on chemical weathering (carbonation) with detail on surface and underground features of carbonation using The Burren (Ireland) as a case study. A detailed hand out based on the cloze test which appears in the Leaving Cert Ordinary Level exam. Includes some revision of key vocab and grammar which appears in this section. Also includes some hints on successfully completing this exercise.

A 2 page worksheet based around clothes and colours in French. Will help students to learn the vocab. Includes translation exercises, reading/learning task & small written tasks using agreements. Could be used as a work sheet, homework or exam.

An activity and worksheet based on Stromae’s song Papaoutai. Firstly, there is a listening activity where the lyrics are laminated and cut up into small chunks of text. Students work together in groups to listen to the song and re-order the lyrics correctly. Differentiation can be facilitated through the specific creation of groups here. Usually students need to here the song twice but of course, it can be played again if needed. This listening task is followed with the worksheet which takes a closer look at the lyrics. Students are asked to find different types of words/grammar in the text (e.g. an infinitive verb, an adverb, a possessive adjective etc…), then have to catagorize positive and negative adjectives and finally have to translate some potentially new words from the lyrics. The lyrics are also attached so that students have a copy each to analyze but the laminated lyrics can also be used and worksheet can be completed in a group. Five resources based on francophone artist Stromae. I use these resources in my Transition Year module and also with my ordinary level leaving cert classes. First is a worksheet and youtube link. Students watch an interview (in English) with Stromae and must note in English as many interesting points as they can. They then have to use the facts/info to make 8 sentences in French about Stromae (can be done individually or as a pair activity a good opportunity to use dictionaries). Listening activity in the form of a gapfill exercise using the lyrics of ‘Formidable’. A word bank can be given to facilitate differentiation if needed. The next activity and worksheet are based on the song Papaoutai. A 15 slide PPT with animations and transitions inserted. Explains cool temperate oceanic climates using Ireland as the reference country. Discusses location, temperature, precipitation, agricultural opportunities, vegetation and animals. Contains a 'to do' slide with 2 questions linked to factors affecting climate (see my shop for this PPT) and also has a 'debate' slide with two questions for discussion. This could be done as part of a think-pair-share exercise or as a whole class discussion/debate. Also attached is a short worksheet on the topic which could be assigned for homework or used as an exam.

A 66 slide PPT based on Rivers. Introduction to rivers/key terms/stages of a river. Explanation of fluvial processes of erosion and transportation. Landforms of fluvial erosion and deposition. How people interact with rivers. Flooding - Case Study of River Shannon flooding 2015-2016. There are lots of diagrams/illustrations and videos embedded into the ppt. There are also several ‘to-do’/‘homework’ slides which direct the students to their textbook or activity book. We use ‘Geography in Action’ but these slides can be adapted to suit your own class/books. Also included is a self-assessment cloze test which summarises the chapter.

3 word documents based on ‘En ville’ - Places in the town. A notes handout which revises the use of the preposition ‘a’ in French with the definite article. This reminds the students how to use the verb ‘aller’ with place names. A simple worksheet based on some places in the town - word translation, sentence translation and writing task. A second worksheet which gives students a description in French and the students must choose a place name from the word bank that best suits the description. Suitable for junior French students as an introduction to the topic. *For a PPT useful for presenting this vocab, see ‘My Shop’. This PPT has many place names along with a photo. This can be used to present the vocab and also to asses knowledge of the vocab.

A 9-slide PPT on the Six Nations with focus on Ireland and France. Includes an translation exercise based on rugby vocab as well as a small comprehension exercise using a short factfile on 4 players. Also includes an infographic from World Rugby to bring in some numeracy - this is accompanied by a ‘Do you understand’ slide in which the students are given some figures from the infographic and they must state to what each one refers. A small unit of work - could be completed in an hour-long class maybe with some oral discussion added in on pastimes/sport. For more resources like this, see ‘My Shop’.

A short 9 slide PPT explaining articles; The definite article, the indefinite article and the partitive article. Can be used to initially introduce the basic articles or can be used with an older class to revise.

A one page word document worksheet based on the professions/jobs in French. Contains one translation exercise and one comprehension exercise. Could be used for HW, class task or exam.

A ‘find someone who’ activity which can be used to get to know a new class or to facilitate active learning, group work, to get the students moving around the class. Great activity for getting students speaking en français.

An 11 slide ppt on the Rugby World Cup (in French). Suitable for a strong 3rd year/Junior cycle class, TY or 5th year group. A gapfill exercises on the importance of sport, looking at physical, mental and other benefits. Once corrected, this piece will serve as a sample answer for an opinion piece on the topic. Also attached is the full sample answer. Can be used as a pair or group reading activity or comprehension.

Includes some embedded video clips and has student activity slides, including a ‘watch and learn’ activity, a numeracy activity and prompts for a walking debate. Also includes some sample exam questions. A full unit of work. Based on Junior Cycle Geography Course (Ireland) but can be easily amended to suit your own curriculum.

A 2 page word doc exam based on Ma maison topic. Includes house and bedroom vocab, prepositions household appliances and household chores. Students must translate vocab from French to English, Match up French/English phrases/vocab, translate sentences and describe their own house and bedroom.
