This is a lesson that completed with my year 6 class to revise the features of 3D shapes. I would highly recommend you have a box of actual 3D shapes for this lesson as seeing the actual 3D objects will really secure their knowledge. I have a worksheet inolving identifying the featyres that I got my class to complete in pairs using the 3D shapes.

This is a lesson I did with my year 6 class on finding equivalent fractions. There are lots of differentiated practice questions with the answers of the next slide. For independent work, there is a differentiated slide which can be printed as a worksheet or the pupils can work from the board (if you want to save paper!). While they are completing their independent work, you can display the slide with the challenge on it which they can complete when they’ve finished. I have included the answers at the end to save teacher time -why not get your class to mark their own work!

This is a lesson that I used to teach my year 6 class about finding the perimeter of a rectangle and of composite shapes. The lesson starts off with a starter on finding the factors of a number. It then offers opportunities to discuss the meaning of perimeter and to model the method. Next, there are slides with differentiated practice questions for the class to do on their whiteboards. The answers are on the next slides so that you can quickly check their work. On the penultimate slide there is the Learning Objective and a challenge to complete once they’ve finished their work. Worksheets are differentiated for LAs, MAs and HAs. I have included the answers for worksheets too to make teacher marking easier or for you to give to your class to mark their own work!

This lesson starts off with two opportunities to discuss the method of how to round numbers. The method I usually teach my class is to circle the place value column you are rounding to. For instance, if you are rounding 456 to the nearest ten , circle the 5. Then underline the number to its right and this will tell you whether you round up or down. The PowerPoint then moves onto differentiated practice questions (answers on next slide so you can check the children’s whiteboards quickly). The final slide has steps to success and a challange question for the class to complete when they have finished their work. The worksheets are differentiated five ways. Two possible options for your LAs (indicated by ), one option for your MAs () and two options for your HAs (). The answers are at the end.

This lesson offers your class practice for the different kinds of addition and subtraction that come up in the arithmatic SATs paper. e.g. = 897 - 567 (equal on the left side) 567.8 + 34.98 = 10-8.66 = You can discuss and model the different methods that your class can use to answer these questions (e.g. the number line) The worksheets are differentiated three ways: LA=*, MA=** and HA= ***. The answers are at the end of the word document to save time.

This lesson begins with opportunities to discuss as a class how you would add/subtract 10, 100 and 1000 from a number without using the formal written method. It then has differentiated practice questions and the answers for your class to complete on their whiteboards. One penultimate slide can be printed off as a worksheet and has 3 levels (Blue for LA, Orange for MA and red for HA). The last slide is the answers to these questions for you to use or for you to get your class to self mark and save you some time! While the class are working independently, I always display the third last slide that has the Learning Objective on it and two challenge questions for children to complete if they finish early and need an extra push.
