A series of worksheets designed for a use on/after a sampling fieldtrip. Originally designed for sixth form Biology but several aspects could be used for a GCSE fieldtrip. Worksheet 1: Ecological concepts- Explains populations, communities, abiotic and biotic factors and asks them to comment on different factors at the sample site. Worksheet 2: Comparing plant communities in two different areas- Explains how to determine how many quadrats to use, how to randomly place quadrats, how to estimate percentage cover and recording tables for two different sites. Worksheet 3: Taking a transect- Explains the different types of transect and asks them to comment on a transect they have taken. Worksheet 4: Data analysis- Includes Simpson's diversity index and the chi-square tests, with worked examples and space to work out their own for each of them.
