Lesson asks students to choose a door to another world (Hogwarts, Narnia, Neverland, Wonderland and Middle Earth.) They then plan the opening and eventually go on to produce a piece of creative writing describing their journey to this other world. Differentiated using aim/challenge/super challenge. Aimed at KS3 but can also be used with KS4 to practice language paper 1, question 5 skills. Please leave a review, i’d love your feedback :)

A lesson based around body image and how expectations of body image have changed over the decades. This lesson looks at barbie dolls and at the representation of people on Love Island and asks students to consider if there is too much pressure on young people to look a certain way.

Lesson is aimed at getting students interested in the news by making it fun and interesting. Lesson asks students to think about the way they can access the news and why news is important. Students then watch and discuss the news before writing and presenting their own news report on a current topic. Aimed at KS3 students but can easily be adapted to suit older students. Differentiated using the GCSE mark scheme and aim/challenge/super challenge.

Aimed at a top set year 8 class- can easily be adapted for KS4 students. Includes a range of Gothic texts such as Frankenstein, Jekyll and Hyde, Dracula, Northanger Abbey. Teaches various language techniques such as pathetic fallacy, manichean symbolism, show don’t tell, foreshadowing etc. Lessons are planned using the TEEP format. Objectives and outcomes are designed to fit the GCSE criteria to prepare students for the style of the examinations. Differentiated using Aim, Challenge and Super Challenge tasks.
