GAME TO REVIEW CULTURAL CONTENT WITH A-LEVEL STUDENTS
Listillo: the game to see how much they know about hispanic culture.
It includes:
27 cards
9 blank cards to create more with the students
Instructions in Spanish and English
Content
The cards are about the topics of A-level (Y12 and Y13): regional identity (festivals and gastronomy), idols (role models, inspiring people, politicians, singers, celebrities), dictatorships and the Spanish Royal family, traditional and modern values (types of families), cultural heritage (artists and monuments), review of expressions to give opinion or express contrast, etc.
How to play
A student picks a card and keeps it to themselves.
The student thinks about how many items of that category he/she can list.
The student chooses his bid.
Example: (Spanish speaking countries)* 6!*
The student on the right (who doesn’t know the category) has two options:
To make a higher bid (7 in this case)
To challenge the previous student to name 6 items of the unknown category. ¡Te reto!
Continue playing in this way for as long as students make higher bids.
When a student challenges the previous student, the category is revealed.
The student that has been challenged has to list as many items as he/she said.
If the student can do it, he/she gets a point.
If not, the challenger gets a point.
Perfect to review content throughout the academic year or before the final exams.

Hola teachers!
These are some displays I have designed for my classroom. It is well-known that the subjunctive is a nightmare for all Spanish learners. Hence, I have created these posters with the different uses of this mood, some examples and, the main part, some grids with the different endings.
It includes:
regular verbs endings
irregular verbs (changes in vowels)
irregular verbs (changes in consonants)
the 7 verbs that are 100% irregular
You can use them as displays and print them A4/A3 or just print them and hand them out to your students to study them and keep them in their books.
¡Hola teachers!
This pdf includes a compilation Spanish idioms. The idea is that the students are given 1 set of idioms and 1 set of definitions and they have to match them.
To help them, they receive a list with examples of the idioms in context.
The next step is to fill in the grid with the English equivalent for each idiom. Answers are provided.
Some idioms that are included:
tener espíritu navideño
que te toque el gordo
desmelenarse
ponerse las botas

This is a display for your MFL classroom. It is the word “CULTURA” and each letter is represented by one Spanish Speaking country: Cuba, Paraguay, Spain, Colombia, etc.
The letters are made of incredible pictures of cultural heritage from those countries. I have used it to create a “cultural corner” in my classroom.
Hi there!
This is just a visual and simple infographic about the types of If clauses in English. I have used it in the English as a Foreign Language Classroom but also in the MFL classroom. Even when teaching Spanish, it’s good to review this in English first.
Hope you use it :)

Regalos de Reyes Magos - Navidad en España
A game to work on reading comprehension and speaking. Idea adapted from a game by @teachingteacup for the English classrooom.
Mode 1:
Students are given a set of 8 characters with a description of their personality.
Students read the descriptions and think of what gifts they would like to receive.
Mode 2:
Students are given a set of 8 characters with a description of their personality.
They also receive a set of 30 gifts.
In pairs, they need to discuss in the target language which gifts each character would like to receive. The descriptions contain their preferences and likes to guide them.
Mode 3:
Students are given a set of 8 characters with a description of their personality.
They also receive a set of 30 gifts.
Students pick a random gift without looking and have to justify why that gift would be appropriate for that character.
Instructions included for each game to make it more appealing for students.
This game can be used at anytime. Same rules apply but instead of Christmas gifts can be birthday gifts.

Hola, teachers!
I’m sharing with you an activity about unit 2 AQA A-level El ciberespacio. Personally, I use it to introduce the unit. It’s a speaking activity but it can also be used as a writing one- with whiteboards, for example.
It tackles topics that we’ll address later on the unit so I like it to start with the unit. It’s about social media, the right age to have your first mobile phone, the access to internet…
Please leave a review if you download it :)
I hope you like it!
You’ll find different activities about holidays:
quick warm-ups with vocabulary
speaking games
prompts to create stories
an example of a short story about past holidays.
I find this useful for groups with A1/A2/ Year 7, 8 and even 9.
Hope you find it useful too! If you use it, share it with me on Instagram :) @hola_teachers
Encontrarás actividades sobre las vacaciones: actividades para empezar con vocabulario, juegos de speaking, ayudas y ejemplos para crear historias y un ejemplo de una historieta corta sobre vacaciones. Es útil para principiantes y niveles bajos como Year 7- 8 e incluso 9.
¡Espero que tu también lo encuentres útil!
**Resource designed to teach the conditional tenses to A-level students. **
To address this grammar point, we first show the grid to the students to learn
how to form the sentences
what they express
the translation in English
The second part of the activity includes a speaking exercises with mini-whiteboards. If you prefer to do it in a written way, it’s also fine.
This activity is focused on the 3rd conditional.
We show them some situations that happened in the past in different Hipanic countries and they tell us what they would have done.
These types of sentences are great for Paper 3 (speaking exam). If they have a card about a dictator, they can say what they would have done, for example.
It’s also great for Paper 2 (essays on novels or films). After doing the analysis, they can say what they would have done as the director or the author.
Infografía para explicar los 3 tipos de “Si-clauses” en español
Propuesta de actividad para practicar el 3r tipo y repasar temario de A-level
The battle of the preterite!
A game to practise the Spanish verbs in their preterite forms.
How to play:
"IN PAIRS. Each person needs a highlighter/pen.
I’ll give you a sheet with some verbs in their preterite forms. I will tell you the verb in the past IN ENGLISH and you will have to find that same verb in SPANISH and highlight it. Take 2 minutes now to read those verbs.
The player with more highlighted verbs and less mistakes is the winner."
This resources includes:
the teacher’s presentation with the instructions and the verbs in English
the student’s worksheet that needs printing
In addition to that, the students add the translation of those verbs and after the game, I challenge them to write the same verbs but in the imperfect tense.
My students absolutely loved this game! This idea was inspired by one of @teachingteacup 's post <3 Follow me on intsgram to see more: @hola_teachers
Hi there!
I’ve posted a series of icebreakers for the first days on my Instagram @hola_teachers. One of them is this one: ¿ESTÁS DE ACUERDO?
The game consists in showing the students some statements and they tell us if they agree or not. If they do, they move to one side of the classroom. If not, they move to the other side. Once they answer, we prompt discussion and ask further questions.
In this case, I have introduced some statements that can help me to explain some of the classroom rules. For example, “I’m addicted to my phone”. After doing that sentence, I make clear when we use the phones in the classroom. Similarly, “I have the fear of speaking in public”. It’s a good way to tell them how important communication is in the MFL classroom.
These are the ones I’m going to use this year. Hope you find it useful :)
This is a presentation to explain the imperfect and the preterite tense in Spanish. It can be used with GCSE and A-level groups. It includes:
uses of each tense (explanation in English)
examples and reasons why each tense is used
grids with the formation of these tenses - including irregular verbs
4 activities (2 for the imperfect, 2 for the preterite). 2 of them are aimed at GCSE learners/beginners and 2 are aimed at !-level students or advanced.
Use them as cue cards as well! Print 4 of them per sheet and keep it in your classroom. If a student struggles with the tenses, pass it to them to help them!
Hope you find it useful :) Follow me on Instagram: @hola_teachers
