Are you looking for fun resources with repeated addition and multiplication equations for your second grade learners? These quality arrays task cards focus on the 2x, 5x, 10x, 3x and 4x multiplication tables and representations as arrays. They are ideal for both the US and UK Math Curriculum to cover expected standards.
Children can often struggle with the concept and need plenty of practice. There are 20 no prep activity cards prompting students to look at each array and identify the matching repeated addition equation and multiplication equation that describes the array. Learners can then clip the answers on each card with pegs or paper clips for interventions, small group work and math centers, or they can record both equations in their notebook so they can see how repeated addition and multiplications can represent the same value.
The best thing is, once completed, students can use the included answer cards to peer or self assess answers, identifying misconceptions or receiving instant praise, knowing they’ve secured their knowledge and understanding.
There are 4 cards per A4 page (pdf download). For extra durability I’d suggest printing into card stock then laminating so they can be used as often as needed. They would be great for classroom and homeschool math lessons as centers, support and interventions.
Whilst these have been designed with second grade learners in mind, there’s scope to include them in 3rd and 4th grade too depending on prior learning and need for understanding. This would equate to Y3 and Y4 UK curriculum.
Save yourself valuable time and use these no prep cards as part of your math lessons.
Help your youngsters secure their knowledge and understanding of the 3 times tables through exploration, using these fun, high quality, math task cards. There are 2 separate sets of pdf task cards available to download, one focusing on the use of everyday concrete objects and the other on pictorial representations. Both sets of cards encourage the use of repeated addition and multiplication equations to develop understanding and show findings in mathematical written form.
Set A cards are designed for learners who need/ enjoy showing math concepts in a practical way, for example showing 4 groups of 3 with socks and pegs or multilink towers. Children need to show the representation through making, placing or building, then write on the laminated cards a repeated addition and a multiplication equation for it. There are 12 cards in this set from 1x3 up to 12x3. They offers versatility as students can show practically and photograph as evidence or for use on a math working wall or bulletin board. They can use a dry wipe pen to write the equations on each card or they could copy and complete the equations in their workbook once the practical task has been completed.
Set B cards focus on pictorial representations, where students use the visual prompt to then write a repeated addition and multiplication equation in their workbook. Once learners are confident with this stage, they should then find abstract representations, reasoning and problem solving easier so they can apply their knowledge and understanding with a greater degree of confidence.
These task cards vary in size. Set A cards are approximately A5 in size, whereas Set B cards are approximately A6 in size. Set B requires no further prep once they’re printed and laminated. Simply use as often as needed on math centers, interventions, small group work or early finishing tasks.
Set A will require a little prep but the concrete materials needed are popular everyday objects, with picture clues as to what is needed in order to complete each task. Both sets of task cards include an answer card to encourage peer and self assessment opportunities, as well as teacher assessment.
You will receive a link to download your materials due to the file size. Then you can print as many copies as you need and use with your 2nd, 3rd and 4th Grade learners in the classroom or homeschool environment
Winter Add and Subtract bar model problem solving Task Cards for 2nd Grade Math
Do you find that your students can calculate simple addition and subtraction answers but struggle when it comes to problem solving? These high quality addition and subtraction task cards provide a great opportunity for students to apply their knowledge solving problems with a bar model representation. There are 20 no prep cards within the set, consisting of a mixture of two digit and three digit numbers, all set within a cute Winter theme.
The problems have been designed with the second grade curriculum in mind (or Year 3 UK) and contain word problems with a bar model representation. Bar models are often included in assessment materials and can prove to be a difficult concept for some learners. Children need to read and solve the problem on each of the cards, using key language to determine whether an addition or a subtraction calculation is needed. They can work out answers on a whiteboard and then record on the provided recording sheet, or ask them to show their working out in their notebooks. There’s also an answer sheet provided to encourage self or peer assessment, or it can be used as a quick reference guide to speed up teacher marking.
The task cards would be ideal for 2nd Grade math centers, small group work or even interventions/challenges for 2nd or 3rd grade children. They would also be suited for homeschooling, ensuring that learners access problems at the expected level or grade.
Creating word problems can be a chore when planning resources. Take the stress out of such preparation, knowing these questions meet curriculum standards, providing fluency and challenge for your students, saving you a lot of time!

If you’re looking to update your number posters on your classroom display then these cute plant themed classroom decor posters are great for engaging little learners in using numbers 1-20 with ten frames with increased confidence. Each poster contains the number in digits, words and a ten frame representation to support youngsters with the math curriculum.
In order to progress with number work, there’s also a set of posters counting in multiples of ten from ten to 100, again containing each number in digits, words but a base ten representation this time.
The numbers 10 &20 are duplicated to show the representations as ten frames and as base ten materials. The number 100 is also represented as ten tens using base 10 and a 100 square using base ten pictures. This is to support children in identifying numbers in different ways as they move through the next steps of learning.
The cute plant theme adds a sense of fun to engage little ones and helps to create an inviting classroom to brighten up classroom display or your next Math bulletin board.
These cards are text editable, with capacity to edit ten frames and base ten representations too. To access and edit the resources, you will need to download the FREE version of CANVA - please make sure you read the instructions on the first page of the resources before you begin to edit.
All of the posters are designed as A4, but you can use your printer settings to print smaller to generate smaller flashcards, or resources to support with Math Center activities.
Engage your little learners with activities for making ten and help them retain important number facts that they’ll need throughout their school experience. Number bonds or pairs of numbers to ten are so important throughout the math curriculum and once students secure these facts, addition and subtraction, along with other arithmetic and basic operations will become accessible more easily.
There are 10 quality worksheet activities included in the packet (where activities appear to have been duplicated, it is to accommodate both UK and US spelling of color in the description of the use of cents or pence notation) that are in line with common core standards within the math curriculum.
Activities include ten frames, matching activities, missing numbers, mazes, counting, coloring and drawing to find pairs of numbers that add to make ten. Use these as a main lesson focus, for independent learning, math centers, homework or homeschooling activities and see your youngsters engage in number sense and facts to make ten.
These are no prep activities, meaning you can simply download, print and use
Keep your little learners engaged with these Place Value Center cards which focus on two digit numbers. Students will look at the main amount represented by base ten, an expanded form, a part whole model, dominoes, fingers or place value chart then use mini pegs to clip the two corresponding amounts in the answer boxes. The activity develops skills in counting amounts up to 100 in different representations, focusing particularly on tens and ones.
This is a great activity for reinforcing learning, identifying gaps in learning, intervention and early finishing tasks. If you’re wanting your learners to record their answers then use the blank answer sheet. Students should be able to access these independently and they offer capacity to use in pairs or as a small group.
Once they’ve finished, students can check their own answers as the set includes answer cards with correct answers highlighted in green. These would be best placed on a key chain to keep them together and make them easily accessible.
The pack includes 20 task cards (4 per A4 page) 20 answer cards and a recording sheet template. All you need to do is print, laminate and use. This time saving, little prep math center is a great addition to your first grade classroom to assess learning, your second grade classroom to recap prior learning and the homeschool environment. In the UK, this would be most suitable for Year 2 children as part of the math curriculum.
Happy Counting!

These cards are versatile, they can be enlarged using your printer settings to create flashcards for larger groups of children, or printed as they are currently designed, to create a math center activity. If you laminate them after printing, youngsters can write on them with a dry wipe pen, or simply copy them onto paper or in their notebook.
