Spring 20 questions games - No prep speaking, listening and describing activities
3 versions of the game are included for a total of 156 vocabulary words.
Have students work in pairs, small groups of 2-4, or project the version of the game that you want to use and do a whole class activity.
Each version includes 52 spring themed words. This resource includes a total of 156 words. Many of the words will likely be new to your students as this game is meant not only to practice speaking and listening, but also to build vocabulary. I like to allow my students to look at the game chart while they play until they’re somewhat familiar with the words.
One student in the small group or class chooses a word on the chart. Other students ask up to 20 questions trying to guess the secret word.
Are you an object?
Are you a living thing?
Are you outside?
Do you smell good?
Are you an animal?
…etc…
The student who has chosen the secret word can answer using the following responses: YES - NO - SOMETIMES - RARELY - USUALLY - MAYBE - IT DEPENDS - PROBABLY
Alternative game play:
To change up the game and to make it more challenging as well as practicing other skills, have the student who chooses the secret word describe it to others in the group. Instead of asking questions about the secret word, other students listen to the description and guess it.

50 writing, speaking and drawing prompts for primary - No prep creative writing
This set of writing, speaking and drawing prompts includes 50 cards to print and cut out as well as 50 individual printable writing and drawing pages. There is also a PDF with only one card per slide if you prefer to project the prompts rather than printing. Each prompt is illustrated with an image. The cards would also be great to use as speaking prompts for small group work, literacy centers or speaking and listening activities.
You can easily use these no prep prompts with many different levels. Use the cards either for speaking or writing, the writing pages as easy printable activities and the drawing pages for differentiated learning or with your younger students.
The writing pages are saved individually and the title of each file is the question itself. The same is true for the drawing pages. This will help you save time and organize the prompts according to level and the classes you want to use them with.
There are so many ways you can use these prompts. Here are a few ideas:
⇨ writing centers
⇨ fast finishers
⇨ tutoring sessions
⇨ no prep sub materials
⇨ morning work
⇨ project on white board for a whole class activity
Each prompt is open ended to encourage creative writing. The words WHO - WHAT - WHEN - WHERE - WHY - HOW are written on each prompt to remind students to see if they can think of interesting things to write by asking themselves those questions.

✮ English months, days, and seasons game - I have…Who has? ✮
This version includes 27 cards. Depending on class size you could either give each student more than one card or have them play with a partner. I recommend printing out and laminating these cards if possible so that you can use them over and over again. This is a great resource for ESL or any classroom where English is spoken.
Here’s how this game works. Once each student has a card (or cards), the one who has the card that says I’ll start the game begins the game. He says, for example, I’ll start the game. I have May. Who has Autumn? The person who has the card with autumn on it says, I have autumn. Who has Thursday? And so the game goes on until the last card is called and that student’s card will say, The game is over!
Another idea is to prepare two sets of cards, divide your class into two groups and let each group have a go to see which team can get through the entire deck of cards the fastest. It’s a lot of fun, and though you can play with younger students the older ones love this game just as much.

English forehead guessing vocabulary game
This forehead guessing game is very simple. It includes 55 cards with pictograms representing an object, an action or an animal. This version is a mishmash of themes.
How to play:
From 2 to 10 players. Make two or more teams, the team with the youngest player starts the game.
Draw a card and without looking at it, show it to other members of your team. If possible, place it on his forehead with an adhesive. The player who draws the card must ask questions in order to guess what is on the card. The other members of the team answer only by “YES”, “NO” or “sometimes” or another word that can guide his or her teammates. No gestures or noises are allowed. For example, if the card shows a dog, the player will have to ask several questions to be able to know what is on his card.
Examples:
“Is it an animal”? Yes
“Does this animal live in water”? No
“Does it eat meat”? Yes
The team scores a point if the word is guessed. The team that reaches 10, 15 or 20 points has won !!
