Math: Scavenger Hunt. Reviewing Fractions, Ratios and Circle Geometry
This friendly no prep learning activity has students reviewing mathematical concepts such as ratios, fractions and circle geometry. The goal is to show students that math truly is everywhere while reviewing previous concepts.
As a teacher you can also use this as a bonus assignment or an extension project. It requires you to simply post the assignment in your virtual classroom. Or print out the assignment for in person use.
The grading for this assignment does follow The Alberta Curriculum for Grade 9 Math. Tasks labeled A are considered grade level and tasks labeled B are above grade level. If you find it helpful or if there is anything that improves the assignment, please leave a comment down below.
Financial Literacy / Business Full Course
Overview: This course has students starting with the basics of monthly budget planning, career planning, post secondary education planning and owning assets. This course is designed to be low prep with very little materials needed. It works well if students have access to a device to research and watch videos. Skills and be utilized from students all over the world. There are direct links to Alberta’s CTF outcomes.
Format:Items can be posted on virtual classrooms or printed out for student use. I have included google doc links with some assignments so you can decide the best way to post assignments for your students. Pages with the heading “A note for the teachers”, share my tips for you and instructions for the activity. The corner of each page has the same image on it so you can have a quick glance at the instructions and the tasks.

Integers Numbers from -20 to 20. Use as a decorative classroom number line.
Feel free to use as is, by just cutting the shapes out and placing them on your classroom wall.
To hand as a banner, punch a hole in the corners of the triangle and run a string through.
Exponents Review - Escape Room
This activity is perfect for keeping your students engaged while they practice their knowledge of exponents. This complete exponents review will cover exponent laws and have students apply their knowledge to solving real world problems.
As indicated in the video below, students watch the video hook, then work on clues #1-5, to find the location of the bunker. This is great for sub plans, unit review or extension questions, all you have to do is show students the video or post it in your virtual classroom.
The video has two parts: The first part is the introduction to the problem. Pause the video when it tells you to “Start Clue #1”. Once students are done with the clues, you can play the second part of the video which concludes the story.
There are also connections to the basic rules of the periodic table connecting student learning to science. Depending on the level of your students, feel free to provide them with more hints for some of the challenging questions. Or have students work in mixed groupings.
