I am a Science teacher of 20+ years who has worked as both an Assistant Science Faculty Leader in mainstream school as well as ITE coordinator. I have also worked in alternative provision and now am curriculum leader for SEND Nurture provision in a special secondary school where I have developed many resources for teaching ELC Science. I love all things Science and enjoy being creative with my teaching.

Ionic bonding

(6)
A lesson to introduce ionic bonding to year 11. This should be followed up by more lessons that go into more detail on each section. This could also be used as a revision of ionic bonding before the exams!
CC8c Preparing Copper Sulfate Crystals

CC8c Preparing Copper Sulfate Crystals

(1)
A powerpoint to help students through the CC8c Core practical - Preparing Copper sulfate crystals. This includes setting the task, a method for students to follow and relevant questions to ask following the practical. The last slide is one I print off and laminate as an aid for students to keep or it could go on a display of core practical in the lab.

CC8d Core Prac - Investigating Neutralisation

(0)
Edexcel CC8d Core Practical - Investigating Neutralisation. This powerpoint leads the students through the setting of the task, the method and hazards and risks associated with th practical. It ends with some questions commonly asked about the practical and the final slide is one I print off and laminate ande ither display around the classroom or allow students to use during the lesson.
CC8a Acids and Indicators

CC8a Acids and Indicators

(0)
Edexcel Combined Science CC8a Acids and Indicators. This presentation includes details on hazard symbols and their meaning, acids, indicators, pH and ions in acids and alkalis. It also includes the practical for testing indicators with solutions of different pH (CC8a.1) the reference to worksheet CC8a.3 refers to the Edexcel published worksheets.

Lets revise Ions and ionic bonding

(0)
A stand alone resource that I have used for revision of ionic bonding. It guides students how to write the name of ionic compounds, how to draw ionic bonding diagrams and how to write the formulae of ionic compounds. There are 3 opportunities in the presentation for students to practice what has been taught so that any misconceptions can be addressed immediately.
CC5c Properties of Ionic compounds
jennytribejennytribe

CC5c Properties of Ionic compounds

(1)
Edexcel CC5c Properties of Ionic Compounds. This presentation starts by looking at the particles and forces present in ionic compounds. It then explains why ionic compounds have high melting and boiling points and finishes by looking at why ionic compounds conduct electricity. This presentation also includes 3 differentiated worksheets and refers to the CC5c.1 practical from Edexcel looking at testing and identifying ionic compounds.
CC5b ionic Lattices
jennytribejennytribe

CC5b ionic Lattices

(1)
Edexcel CC5b Ionic Lattices. This starts by looking at what ionic lattices are, then moves onto how to write the names of ionic compounds and how to write their formulae using the cross over method. 2 differentiated worksheets are also included . I usually follow this lesson with a lesson on writing word and symbol equations ( see my other powerpoint)
CC10a Core practical - electrolysis

CC10a Core practical - electrolysis

(0)
Edexcel CC10a Electrolysis of Copper Sulphate. This presentation gives students some background knowledge of the procedure, steps to carry out the procedure adn then some questions to ask in the analysis of their results. There is also a slide that summarises the key pints that can be printed off, laminated and put on display.
CC10 revision of electrolysis

CC10 revision of electrolysis

(0)
Edexcel CC10 revision of electrolysis. This has a differentiated starter to cover the main points of electrolysis. It then has graded questions for the student to work through. This works well at the end of teaching this topic or as part of exam revision.
CC3c Isotopes

CC3c Isotopes

(0)
Edexcel CC3c Isotopes. This presentation introduces isotopes and how chemical properties are the same but physical properties are different based on electronic structure. It also takes higher students through calculations on using relative abundance of isotopes to work out relative atomic mass. 2 differentiated worksheets are included.
CC3a Atomic Structure
jennytribejennytribe

CC3a Atomic Structure

(0)
Edexcel CC3 Chemistry Atomic Structure. This is the first in a series of 3 lessons following CC3 from Edexcel. 2 differentiated worksheets are included with this presentation. This presentation takes a brief look through how the idea of an atom developed over time and uses The Atoms Family ( a set of 3 cartoons I drew to represent the proton, electron and neutron) and helps students remember the properties of each subatomic particle. Penny the proton is positive, Ned the neutron is neutral and Elvis the electron is nEgative ( alliteration!)
CC3b Ar and Mr

CC3b Ar and Mr

(0)
Edexcel CC3b Ar and Mr calculations. This presentation introduces the mass number and atomic number and allows students to practice calculating the number of protons, electrons and neutrons from these numbers. With the higher students if time allows you can introduce the relative atomic mass and relative formula mass also. These are 2 differentiated worksheets to go with this lesson included.
AS Titrations and calculations

AS Titrations and calculations

(0)
An introduction to basic quantitative analysis including making standard solutions, titrations and using titration results in calculations. The presentation can be used as a stand alone lesson when revising or used in conjunction with the booklet when teaching this topic.

Practice mole calculations

(0)
This is a stand alone presentation I use for after school revision throughout the year to show students how to approach calculations involving moles. The slides can be adapted or quantities changed each week so that students practice new problems each time.

Chemistry 10 Question Quizzes - states of matter

(0)
This is a series of 10 question recall tests for use at the start or end of a lesson. This presentation includes quizzes on states of matter and mixtures. At the end of each quiz is a slide with just the questions on so that they can be printed off and handed out to students as a starter whilst you do the register. The presentation then goes through each questions with the answer so that students can self assess. Alternatively it can be done as a plenary and you can rapid fire targeted questions just using the presentation.
