MELODIC DICTATIONS + MELODY IDENTIFICATIONS PACK (audio included)

**30 MELODIC DICTATIONS (ALL GENRES/STYLES) **
STUDENTS WORKBOOK + POWERPOINT FOR EASY TEACHING – BUY & TEACH!
REAL EXTRACTS INCLUDED NOT JUST A PIANO LINE EMBEDDED
**FULLY CORRECTED **
This resource will help students to succeed in the aural dictation question in all boards’ Appraising Music exam (GCSE & A Level). It provides opportunities to build students’ musical literacy and listening skills. It assumes prior knowledge of music theory (notation (up to 2 ledger lines), intervals etc…).
I have created and developed this resource after years of struggling to find dictations worksheets that use REAL extracts and not just a piano line. This is particular important as it gets students to develop their ability to identify and focus on the main melody as part of a larger texture, something that most students struggle with.
This resource includes 3 different tested activities that I personally use in my teaching and that has proven to be successful:
Identifying melodies – the first step to succeed - are students able to identify melodies? Are they able to know if the melody goes higher? Lower? Etc…
Dictation warm ups (this section is open to your own teaching) – I usually teach each ‘dictation’ lesson by playing a simple melody on the piano for students to write it down, giving students the starting note.
Contour – I get my students to write the contour of the melody heard. This is for me to see if students can follow pitches and for students to gain confidence in the task.
In at the deep end – students complete the dictations. As this is practice, I usually play the tracks a number of times to ensure that the majority of students managed to complete the task.
