What’s included? This download includes one A4, landscape pdf sheet to practise ‘counting in 2’s’ from 0 to 50 (and back) using rainbow coloured circle shaped ‘beads’. Dotted guide line showing where to cut and punch a hole are included. The hole to punch is 5mm in size though a smaller hole punch could be used (to increase the fine motor skills challenge!) Who’s it for? This resource has been designed for early years children, pupils in years one and two as well as older students needing additional learning support. Resource Details The layout includes x6 rows and x9 columns of circular shaped beads each with a 2’s number from 0 - 50 (and back again). Beads are arranged in rainbow order to help guide and motivate learners in finding the next number (and colour) in the pattern. This is an ideal activity to keep learners busy and independent. What’s included? x5 sheets, portrait orientation, pdf format. Who’s it for? This resource has been designed for children in the early years, pupils in years one and two as well as older students needing additional learning support. What’s it for? This resource has been designed to encourage learners to investigate the concept of symmetry within x6 spot/dot pictures. How to use it? Learners use the printed B&W/colour spots on the left to complete each of the x6 ‘symmetrical patterns’ on the right side. Alternatively learners can create their own symmetrical spot/dot patterns using the blank sheet provided. Suggestion Using safety mirrors along side the activity would make a huge difference to understanding (or not) for some learners. Best to use these where they are available, Resource Details… The B&W and colour version of this resource show the same patterns (with answers) but a ‘blank’ is included for the adult/learners to create their own. What’s included? SET 1 x4 sheets (activities and answers) for Phase 2 Set 1 (letters - s a t p i n). Portrait orientation, pdf format. Who’s it for? This resource has been designed for early years children, pupils in years one as well as students needing additional learning support. What’s it for? This ‘Phase 2’ phonics practise activity set (1) has been designed to be a simple, predictable matching activity to promote independence and consolidate knowledge of the first set of letters/sounds introduced. This activity is ideal for individuals/groups to be getting on with independently. How to use it? The adult can pre-cut the x16 rectangular shaped picture (x8) and word cards (x8) - pages 1 and 2 (grey dotted lines guide where to cut) to separate them from each other. These x16 rectangles can then be shuffled and placed on a table top for learners to read and match together. Resource Details… The words on the word cards only use the letters s, a, t, p, i, n. These words are: snap pin pants spin tin sit pan snip Learners may find ‘snip’, snap’, ’spin’ and ‘sit’ more tricky to match as these four cards do not link directly to a noun picture card. ‘Snap’ links to a ‘crocodile’, ‘snip’ to ‘scissors’, ’spin’ to a ‘globe’ and ‘sit’ to the cat which is ‘sitting’ on a chair. 2D shapes (and properties) name game

What’s included? This download includes x2 pages, portrait orientation, in pdf format. What is it? This is a simple game for two players to reinforce 2D shape names and the number of sides each shape has. The game includes two boards on page 2 (one for each player) with a space for each player to write their names on the line above. All that is needed in addition is a die (dice). One to share is best to promote turn-taking. Players take turns to roll the die. The number on the die indicates the number of sides of the shape e.g. a circle has ‘one’ side therefore if the player rolls a ‘one’ with the die the ‘circle’ can be ‘ticked off’ on the board. Alternatively a counter/‘matching 2D plastic/wooden shape’ could be placed on top of each shape on the board once the shape has been ‘rolled’. The first player to tick off (or cover up!) all 2D shapes on their board is the ‘winner’ ! Clear visual instructions are included on page 1 of this resource which the players could be encouraged to read themselves before playing the game. Who’s it for? This ‘2D shape name game’ resource has been designed for early years and pupils in years one and two as well as students needing additional learning support. What’s needed? One die (dice) to share or one each. Foam dice are great as really quiet! Optional A shallow box, e.g. half of an empty cereal box laid flat on its back with front removed (ideally lined with a piece ‘felt’ fabric to soften sound) to roll the die into could be used to avoid dice rolling away (e.g. off a table top). This should avoid any momentum of the game being interrupted while searching for lost dice ! Resource layout The instruction text is size 14 ‘Avenir’ font. Instructions are included on page 1, the game itself (x2 game boards) are included on page 2. Recommendations This PDF has been designed to print and write-on. It could be laminated and a dry-wipe pen used to enable reuse and improve durability. The adult can pre-cut the x10 rectangular shaped puzzles - pages 1 and 2 (grey dotted lines guide where to cut) to separate them from each other. The adult can also cut the orange dotted lines to separate the segments of each puzzle itself. Picture/word puzzles Each learner needs to match up the segments of each picture/word puzzle to complete the x10 pictures and words - all words on the ‘picture/word’ puzzles are made using only the ‘m d g o c k’ letters/sounds. Once the puzzles are complete learners can use these as a reference to complete the x10 sentences (pages 3-6). Extension/follow-on sentences… There are two versions of the same x10 sentences to complete. A larger format (pages 3 and 4) which can be cut up (perhaps laminated) and written on (if laminated - with a dry wipe/wipe clean pen). The smaller scale version (page 5) has the same x10 sentences but ‘all on one page’ for learners to complete with a pencil, as a ‘worksheet’. Answers are included on page 6 in the same format which learners can use for quick, easy reference. Resource Details… The sentences include high frequency words ‘a’, ‘the’, ‘this’, ‘is’, ‘go’, ‘on’, ’can’. The sentences also include the word ‘spade’ (with an image of a spade directly above this word), ’peas’ (with an image of pod with peas in/outside of it directly above this word) and ’hot’ (with an image of pot with steam coming out of the spout directly above this word). What’s included? x4 sheets, portrait orientation, pdf format. Who’s it for? This resource has been designed for children in the early years, pupils in years one and two as well as students needing additional learning support. What’s it for? This resource encourages learners to identify 2D shapes while practising counting (carefully and systematically) up to 12 objects. How to use it? Learners identify the x8 different 2D shapes hidden (on page 2) and once they have counted the total number of each shape (maximum number is 12) learners record this total amount on the recording sheet (page 1). Answers are provided on pages 3 and 4 in exactly the same layout for quick, easy reference - encouraging learners to be autonomous in checking their own work (carefully). Suggestion Encourage learners to use a different coloured crayon/felt tip pen when counting each different 2D shape (using page 2). This will make finding and counting each different 2D shape much easier and systematic for learners. Provide ‘answers sheets’ (pages 3 and 4) for groups to share and only once the 2D Shape Eye Spy activity has been completed! This download includes x2 pages featuring x10 butterflies - one black and white, one rainbow version. There are x2 A4 pages in total, both portrait orientation. Each page clearly features ten butterflies. Each butterfly’s left wing shows one part of each double (in ‘dots’) in order order up to 10. Learners can complete the other half of each double by drawing ‘dots’ e.g. with a felt tip pen onto the space on the right wing. The total number of dots can then be written on the line underneath to complete the sentence e.g. ‘Double 1 is 2.’ These beautiful ‘doubles resources’ have been carefully designed for early years and pupils in years one and two as well as students needing additional learning support. Size 20 ‘Sassoon Infant Std’ font makes the text e.g. ‘Double 2 is …’ easy to read and clearly models the process of doubling numbers to 10 to learners. What’s included? This download includes two pages (x2 A4 sheets, portrait orientation) featuring one wordsearch for 2D shapes and related words (page 1) and the answers - clearly showing where all words are hidden (page 2). Colour version. Who’s it for? This simple, clear resource has been carefully designed to encourage young learners in the early years, especially pupils in years one and two as well as students needing additional learning support. Knowing these 2D shape names (and related words) is an important part of maths throughout school and in the wider world. This wordsearch makes the spellings clear and introduces/reinforces shape related vocabulary. Support/extension For those learners either needing the additional support of having the 2D shape image WITH the 2D shape name the 2D shape images are included here. For learners who would like an extra challenge, the images of the 2D shapes are all also hidden within the wordsearch. Once the learner has located each of these they could be circled on the wordsearch and ticked off in the boxes below. Resource layout The wordsearch letters are arranged in a x10 by x10 square grid and featuring easy to read size 25 ‘Sassoon Infant Std’ font. What’s included? This download includes two pages (x2 A4 sheets, portrait orientation as a pdf) featuring one ‘Summer words’ word search (page 1). The answers (on page 2) clearly show where all words are hidden, displayed in the same layout (as page 1) for easy comparison and quick reference. Other seasons (Spring, Autumn and Winter) are also available (also for free!) in my TES shop (as well as 'months of the year’) and other word searches in this same style. Who’s it for? This word search has been designed for pupils the early years, in years one and two, as well as students needing additional learning support. This simple, clear resource has been carefully designed to encourage young learners with reading ‘high frequency’ key words. Knowing these common ‘Summer words’ - both reading them on-sight and learning the correct spellings will benefit both reading and writing. This word search makes the spellings clear, there are x19 words to find. Resource layout The word search letters are arranged in a x10 by x10 square grid and featuring easy to read size 25 ‘Sassoon Infant Std’ font. The Summer words have been organised into four groups of five (one group of four!), clearly showing all hidden question words below the word search. As said, there are x19 words to find in total. These words are hidden horizontally (forwards and backwards), vertically (up as well as down) and diagonally (forwards and backwards). Words to find are; bee, butterfly, daisy, rose, beach, bucket, paddle, sandcastle, spade, barbecue, hot, ice cream, picnic, solstice, camp, humid, sand, shell and towel. Recommendations I recommend that learners use a ‘highlighter’ style pen when finding the hidden words as highlighters enable all letters to remain visible once each word has been identified. Some letters have been used more than once (for different words) so all letters need to remain visible (if words are instead ‘crossed out’ this makes the letters harder to read and identify). This word search may be printed and laminated to be reused. Useful for… I find word searches like this good way to motivate pupils to read words and while engaging in the activity learners are encouraged to focus on the spellings as they really think about the order of which letter follows which within each ‘Summer’ word especially as they try to track words which are hidden backwards or diagonally within the word search! This word search can make a good use of time as a follow on activity for early finishers. Word searches can be an engaging homework task, useful in supporting reading, spelling and writing. This is a simple, easy to play game to reinforce number bonds to 10 knowledge in a fun, easy way. Designed for Y1 and Y2, suitable for Reception aged children. This is a two player game so ideal for a parent and child or support assistant and individual child needing some extra help in remembering these number bonds. I have used this successfully online but have adapted it here so that it can be played at a table/desk…or on the floor! Everything needed to play this simple game is included in the pdf and the instructions are clearly printed on the game itself. Of course these can be adapted to suit each learner as long as it is fun and they are learning thats the key thing! The wordsearch letters are arranged in a x10 by x10 square grid and featuring easy to read size 25 ‘Sassoon Infant Std’ font. The black and white version of this word search is also available. This version uses x4 colours - red, yellow, green and blue. Who’s it for? This simple, clear resource has been carefully designed to encourage young readers especially pupils in years one and two as well as students needing additional learning support. Knowing these number names (words) is also an important part of maths in these year groups as questions and information often include the number name as the written word (e.g. ‘three’) instead of the more easily recognisable numeral (e.g. ‘3’). What’s included? This download includes one ‘Months of the Year’ word search in colour AND black and white. There are x4 pages total, all portrait orientation in pdf format. The x12 months and x4 seasons of the year are hidden in a x10 by x10 square grid, with the hidden words clearly listed in four (seasonal) groups underneath. The answers (on page 2) clearly show where all words are hidden, displayed in the same layout (as page 1) for easy comparison and quick reference. Who’s it for? This word search has been carefully designed to encourage young readers in the early years and pupils in years one and two (as well as students needing additional learning support) with reading key words. Knowing these time-related words (the months of the year and seasons) both reading them on-sight and learning the correct spellings will benefit both reading and writing. This word search makes the spellings clear, there are x16 words to find. Resource layout The twelve months have been organised into groups of four according to which season they are part of. The box for each season has been colour coded (in the colour version) to make this clearer and the ‘season word’ for each group is also hidden within the word search. There are x16 words to find in total. These words are hidden horizontally (forwards), vertically (up as well as down) and diagonally (forwards AND backwards). Words to find are; winter, December, January, February, Spring, March, April, May, Summer, June, July, August, Autumn, September, October and November. Recommendations I recommend that learners use a ‘highlighter’ style pen when finding the hidden words as highlighters enable all letters to remain visible once each word has been identified. Some letters have been used more than once (for different words) so all letters need to remain visible (if words are instead ‘crossed out’ this makes the letters harder to read and identify). This word search may be printed and laminated to be reused. Useful for… I find word searches like this good way to motivate pupils to read words and while engaging in the activity learners are encouraged to pick up on the spellings as they really focus on the order of which letter follows which within each month/season word especially as they try to track words spelt backwards or diagonally within the word search! This word search can make a good use of time as a follow on activity for early finishers, linking to learning about nouns, time and the seasons for example and word searches can be an engaging homework task, useful in supporting reading, spelling and writing. This word search has been designed for pupils the early years, in years one and two, as well as students needing additional learning support. This simple, clear resource has been carefully designed to encourage young learners with reading ‘high frequency’ key words. Knowing these common ‘Spring words’ - both reading them on-sight and learning the correct spellings will benefit both reading and writing. What’s included? This download includes one resource in TWO versions - black and white AND rainbow colour themed in pdf format. Each version includes three pages (x3 A4 sheets, landscape orientation) featuring twenty separate questions (in order from pages 1 to 3) plus x20 follow up/revision questions at the end (on page 3) also in order. Page 3 also includes two boxes on the right, to record the numbers which can/cannot be split equally into half to enable learners to clearly identify odd/even numbers as an opportunity for discussion. The words ‘odd’ and ‘even’ have not been included here. Who’s it for? This simple, clear resource has been carefully designed for pupils in years one and two as well as older students needing additional learning support. Resource layout This resource enables learners to investigate each number from 1 to 20 to discover whether it can (or cannot!) be split/divided/shared equally into two. Starting at 1 each box visually shows that number of pencils with two sheets of paper positioned below. The learner can draw a line from one pencil to one sheet of paper (on the left) and the next pencil in the line to the second sheet of paper (on the right), continuing to do this one pencil at a time, shared either to the left or right sheet of paper in alternate order until there aren’t any more pencils available. Underneath the image of two 'sheets of paper’ is the written sentence Half of 1 is ___ for the learner to complete (for every number). The learner can write their finding on the line to complete the sentence. Where a number e.g. 1 cannot be split equally into half therefore the sentence - Half of 1 is ___ cannot be completed the learner can instead draw a line or cross in the space, such as ‘Half of 1 is X’. Lastly, the learner can circle either the tiny image of ‘tick’ / ‘cross’ to indicate whether that number can be split in half or not. The learner can then move onto investigating the next number. Recommendations I recommend that learners explore the concept of ‘halving numbers to 20’ practically before recording their learning. Using physical coloured matchsticks or lolly sticks and a sheet of A4 folded/with a line drawn down the centre is a simple way to begin! Small coloured matchsticks could be placed on top of the pencil images each time for a learner with good fine motor control. This resource may be printed and laminated to be reused, this black and white version is a good version for photocopying. Useful for… I hope this resource will be useful to range of educators including parents, support workers, additional and special needs assistants, tutors and teachers. Online learning This resource is also ideal to upload and use in on-line classrooms, such as Sherpa.

What’s included? This pdf download includes x3 pages designed in landscape orientation featuring ten pairs of hands (each showing x10 fingers!) to practise counting in 10’s up to 100. This resource has been designed in black and white for easy, clear printing. Who’s it for? This resource has been designed for pupils in Y1 and Y2 as well as students needing additional learning support. This resource may be suitable for some pupils in Reception. This has been designed as a ‘cut and stick’ activity for learners who may find ‘writing’ numbers challenging or those who love to cut and stick! The numbers to cut out are positioned at the bottom of the sheet - these could be pre-cut by an adult to speed up the activity or to support learners who find cutting challenging/demotivating. Cutting ‘dots’ are included to guide the children in where to cut ‘out’ (rather than cut ‘up’ !) the numbers! Resource layout Size 40 ‘Sassoon Infant Std’ font makes the numbers easy to read and the simple layout makes the process of counting in 10’s visually clear to young learners. The headings are in the same font - size 20 and the instructions are size 16. Page 1 The first page has x10 boxes of ten sets of fingers with a large blank box under each image where the learner can cut and stick the correct 10’s number. The numbers ’30’ and ‘100’ have already been typed in the boxes, leaving x8 number gaps for the learner to complete. With two completed numbers to help this is the least challenging sheet in this set. Page 2 The second page also has x10 boxes of ten sets of fingers with a large blank box under each image where the learner can stick the correct 10’s number. This blank version can be printed and the adult can write some more of the 10’s numbers in, (still leaving gaps for the learner) to complete the boxes. If given to a learner as it is (without any numbers written on) this page (page 2) is the more challenging sheet in this set, particularly as the numbers to ‘cut out’ are intentionally ‘mixed up’. Page 3 The last, page 3 is the answers page - ALL 10’s numbers to 100 have been typed in the boxes. This makes page 3 a helpful reference sheet which learners could use to check their answers themselves. Page 3 could be used as a reference resource for display.

What included? One pdf with x7 sets of counting in 10’s (circle) cards, x6 colours plus grey. Each sheet includes numbers 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100 and one ‘blank’ card in same style. Colours (and order) of the ‘Counting in 10’s cards’ are red (page 1), yellow (page 2), green (page 3), blue (page 4), purple (page 5) pink (page 6) and grey (page 7). All sheets are portrait orientation. What are they for? The circles can be cut out and used to practise/check ‘counting in 10’s’ to 100 using the image of 'ten fingers’ (on hands!) as a clear visual guide. These have been designed to be simple and ideal to use in various ways to practise and reinforce counting in 10’s to 100. Suggestions include: Game Each learner needs one set of coloured cards each. To play game circle cards can be sorted into colours and shuffled. Cards to be placed face-down in a grid (in random order). Players take turns to turn over one card at a time. If a player reveals their ‘own’ colour the card is kept, if it is not that player’s colour the card is returned to where it was taken from in the grid. The winner is the first player to collect all x10 cards (in their colour set) and position these cards in the correct order from 10 to 100. Treasure hunt These cards could be used for a coloured ‘treasure hunt’ where one set of cards are hidden within a specified area for learners to find, then order (once all colours in set have been found). Various other games could be invented using these cards. Circle sheets are best printed on card (or printed on paper and backed onto card) to ensure the images/numbers are not visible through the paper when reversed during game. See ‘recommendations’ below… Who’s it for? This resource has been designed for pupils in Y1 and Y2 as well as students needing additional learning support. This resource may be suitable for some pupils in Reception. Recommendations This PDF has been designed to print, it could be laminated to enable reuse. Print off as many sets as needed. Quality/durability will be best when printed onto ‘card’ (instead of paper) OR print onto paper, back onto card and laminate to keep for longer. Always cut off sharp corners when laminating, to give a safe, smooth ‘rounded’ edge. What’s included? This download includes x2 sets (each set includes x2 pages) featuring x20 butterflies in black and white AND rainbow versions. There are x4 ‘A4’ pages in total, all portrait orientation. Each set clearly features twenty butterflies. Each butterfly’s wing shows one part of each double (in ‘dots’) in order/random order up to 20. Learners can complete the other half of each double (by drawing ‘dots’ e.g. with a thick felt pen onto the space on the right wing) and write the total number (of dots) on the line above to complete the sentence e.g. ‘Double 11 is 22.’ Who’s it for? These beautiful ‘doubles resources’ have been carefully designed for early years and pupils in years one and two as well as students needing additional learning support. Resource layout Size 20 ‘Sassoon Infant Std’ font makes the text e.g. ‘Double 2 is …’ easy to read and clearly models the process of doubling numbers to 20 to learners.
