This four-page English language activity worksheet introduces the topics of Earth Hour and Earth Day. It aims to equip students with the vocabulary and structures to talk about the initiatives themselves, as well as wider themes of the environment and environmentalism.
The worksheet comprises four short texts along with comprehension questions and brief glossaries of key words for each. A third page includes vocabulary exercises to consolidate new words, with an ‘over to you’ writing exercise on the fourth page.
The language level is around A2 on the CEFR scale (ideal for a proficient Year 8/9 group), designed to encourage gist-reading longer chunks of text.
Answers to all the activities are supplied at the end of the worksheet.
