A booklet designed to help students practice their translation from French into English. Primarily designed for AQA where at Foundation and Higher, students translate a short passage from French to English as part of the last question on the Reading exam. This Booklet is just for Theme 1, covering: • Relationships with family and friends • Marriage • Social media • Technology • Music • Cinema and TV • Food and eating out • Sport • Customs and festivals Altogether there are 9 translations for students to complete. There is an accompanying answer booklet too that has a breakdown of how students would get the 9 marks per question, following the format of the AQA mark scheme. A revision lesson aimed at students studying AQA GCSE Spanish who have their Speaking and Writing exam coming up. All themes covered during the lesson. By the end of it, students should feel comfortable talking or writing about every theme. Time is also spent on using filler phrases, expanding vocabulary and going through the criteria of how to be successful.

The PowerPoint in this resource is ideal for a department in English - it comes from an AQA conference attended in Spring 2018 so includes exclusive content/insights into the examination board and how they mark exams, the difference between Bands etc. PowerPoint offers ideas on how teachers can encourage students to be more successful, like in stressing the importance of answering the questions. An exam paper created to challenge/assess A/AS level Spanish students. The exam is not made for any particular exam board and can be used to practice/test skills required for all exam boards, including: Comprehension: reading the extract and answering questions relating to it (multiple choice). Explaining the meaning of certain words based on context/finding synonyms. Gap fill. Correcting grammatically incorrect sentences. Summary writing. Extended writing task (blog). Answers are included for every section EXCEPT Section B - the writing task. This is for the teacher to mark based on the quality of the student’s writing, but it could also be an opportunity for the students to peer assess.

A worksheet aimed at Years 10 and 11 students (although this can be used at A level to revise tense usage) which tests students’ knowledge of the tenses. It is structured as follows: Students have to conjugate verbs in the imperfect and then, from a list of uses for the Imperfect, decide which one fits the sentence best. Students do the same as the above, but with the preterite. The same as the above, but with the pluperfect. Students translate a set of sentences and think about the different contexts their tenses imply. Students finish sentences (si clauses) based on what tense should follow. A full lesson aimed at A level students studying French that covers discrimination between genders, above all in the work place. The resource includes: A PPT with a quiz as a starter where students use what they know to guess answers to some facts about the status of women in France and in the world of work. A lesson that can be used for a variety of different subjects, that aims to increase cultural awareness amongst students as well as helping their literacy. Can be tailored for any year group. Includes: a presentation to give to students on Norway, Sweden and Denmark. Whilst the teacher is presenting, students should complete a mini-fact file based on what’s being said. The information given is based on cuisine, public holidays and education. an article from The Guardian that has been cropped and edited so students read information on traveling through Scandinavia which raises their cultural awareness, and use it to create a leaflet. This boost students’ understanding of how pieces of prose are constructed.

This resource is suitable for any year group with whom you have worked on the subjunctive and its uses. The PPT lesson will require some prior knowledge of the tense, however it is possible to adapt it so that this is not the case. Activity aimed at GCSE Italian students of any exam board. A worksheet useful for revising/consolidating the topic of seasons/days/months and the grammar aspect of prepositions. This activity comes with 2 gap fill exercises on simple prepositions and prepositions + articles, a vocabulary section which shows the prepositions in practice and then a translation task whereby prepositions must be used correctly.

A game useful for GCSE students that enables them to practice their comprehension, understanding of grammar, speaking abilities, and, if necessary, dictionary skills. The resource is particularly useful for revising prepositions and present tense verbs. Students should get into pairs and label themselves 1 or 2. Student 1 reads aloud and describes their scene, which student 2 then draws. Then this is swapped around. If vocabulary is limited for students, get them to look up the ‘key words’ listed at the top of the page.

AQA A level Spanish resource An exemplar essay written to answer the following question: “Analiza la relacion de Clara y Esteban, hablando sobre sus similitudes y sus diferencias.” The essay is approx. 1000 words because it was produced for students to analyse and to take ideas from. This is marked and includes feedback plus where this would score if it were to be marked by AQA examiners. There are several reflective questions at the end where students must look at ideas they can take from it, think about what could be improved, and more, meaning it makes a great lesson activity.
