Ideology and Science is the 7th topic which is part of the unit on Beliefs in Society. There are 2 parts to this topic: 7.a) Science as a belief system 7.b) Ideology This is an interactive lesson, with opportunities for paired/group activities. To help students further engage with the topic, there are contemporary videos and reading materials included. There is also exam practice at the end to allow students to apply their knowledge and skills. Lesson objectives: • To understand and be able to evaluate different views of the nature of ideology. This lesson is the third lesson on theories of religion, part of the unit on Beliefs in Society. This is an interactive lesson, with plenty of opportunities paired and class discussions centred on feminist issues today. There are controversial articles provided to promote higher level inquiry and a TED talk link to bring to life the feminist debate. This lesson is the final assessment lesson on theories of religion, part of the unit on** Beliefs in Society**. This is an interactive lesson, with plenty of opportunities for paired and class discussions, with a strong focus on exam technique/skills. There are 2 parts of the assessment lesson, which could be delivered across two separate lessons. The first part of the lesson is focused on assessing knowledge and understanding of Functionalist theories of religion through short mark questions. This has been designed as a peer-assessed test. The second part of the lesson is a 20-mark exam question using the item, this allows students to evaluate their knowledge of the whole unit. This lesson assesses all three theories on religion (Functionalist, Marxist and Feminist theories), which are available as individual lessons or as a discounted bundle in the shop! Lesson objective 1: • To complete an assessment on the main functionalist theories of religion.
