This unit of work uses her and her songs as inspiration to create theatre performances. This PowerPoint contains three sessions all about getting to know your primary class. The sessions are practical, easy to manage and simple. This unit of work is an extension from my Titanic unit. This SOW looks at the conspiracies behind Titanic and uses drama as a tool to explore history. Within the unit students will learn about different individuals on the ship and improve their character skills. They will learn new techniques, complete written and practical tasks. This is a four lesson unit of work encouraging young children to perform poetry.
Each lesson is scaffold-ed so that every child can achieve and have fun performing poetry.
There are whole class activities and group activities.
This unit of work also includes two resources with age-appropriate poems but you would be able to interchange your own poetry easily.
The presentation is colourful and interactive but the reliance is on teaching these lessons with energy and enthusiasm, getting little ones excited about reading and performing poetry.
