Reading Comprehensions
This resource is a pack of three reading comprehensions on the subject of ancient Rome. The topics are as follows: Entertainment in Ancient Rome, The Roman Army and The Roman Baths. They are designed for KS2 and the questions reflect content domains 2a- 2d: explaining the meaning of words in context, retrieval, summarising and inference using evidence. Question formats include multiple choice, true/false, ordering and find and copy.

The words reflect the phonics content in the current national curriculum, and the graphemes which have appeared on previous papers, including oe, au, e-e, ore, ie and ue. This resource consists of a PowerPoint presentation with ten punctuation and grammar activities reflecting the spelling, punctuation and grammar requirements from the year 2 curriculum for English: capital letters, full stops, question marks, exclamation marks, time conjunctions,
compound sentences, subordination, apostrophes for possession, noun phrases and commas in lists. These activities are based on an animal theme and each one lasts for 5- 15 minutes.
