This is an engaging party animals themed 5 levels practice on applying the distributive property of multiplication. Each page/slide contains 7 problems of one and the same level. The first page/slide are problems of level 1, the 2nd page/slide are problems of level 2 and etc. Each page/slide contains 7 problems. Students can type their answers in the tables provided on each page/slide. Detailed description of the problems: 1 level are expressions of type a(x+b), where and a and b are positive integers; 2 level are expressions of type a(±x+c), where a and/or c can be negative integers; 3 level are expressions of type a(bx+c), where a, b and c can be positive or negative integers; 4 level are expressions of type a(bx+c) where a, b or c can be decimals; 5 level are expressions of type a(bx+c) where a is a fraction and b and c are integers. Answer key is included. This resource can be used individually or students can work in pairs. The practice can be given as homework as well. NOTE: This product is created as a Google Slides product. Students will review and practice the short multiplication formulas with this engaging circus animals themed activity. On each page/slide students use the indicated short multiplication formula to simplify six expressions (page/slide 1 problems use the square of a sum formula, page/slide 2 problems use the square of a difference formula, page/slide 3 - product of the sum and difference of two terms, page/slide 4 - cube of a sum, page/slide 5 - cube of a difference, page/slide 6 - sum of cubes and page/slide 7 - difference of cubes formula). This activity can be completed independenlty (some of the problems can be solved as classwork and the rest - as homework) or as the problems are many and challenging it will be great if students can work in groups. On each page/slide students are given a complex fraction to simplify and a picture of an animal holding a blank sign on which is written an answer. There are also two buttons labeled “Right” and “Wrong”. Students have to determine whether the animal “saying” the answer is right or wrong and then to strike through one of the buttons. This is a fun matching activity on complex fractions called “What kind of butterfly is this?”. Students are provided with 10 challenging problems as there is one problem given on each page/slide. The number of the problem is the number of a butterfly/moth given on a picture. Students solve the problem and search for its answer in a table. The answer reveals the name of the butterfly numbered with the same number as the problem. Students are instructed to record in the table the number of the problem/butterfly in the row where is its answer and beside the name of the butterfly (to match the problem with its answer). There is also an interesting fact given for each butterfly on each page/slide. This product stimulates student interests in both algebra and zoology. The answer key is included. This is an engaging 4 levels practice on simplifying rational expressions. On the first page/slide (problems level 1) students are given 6 rational fractions. Students will need to factor out a GCF in the numerator and denominator and then to cancel the common factor to simplify. On the second page/slide (level 2) students will need to use the difference of squares formula and factoring out a GCF to simplify 6 rational fractions. On the third page/slide students have to factor the numerators and denominators of 6 rational fractions which are quadratic trinomials. And on fourth page/slide (problems level 4) students use the formulas for sum and difference of cubes to simplify the last 6 rational expressions. Some problems require using the polynomial identities for square of sum and square of difference. This is an engaging practice on applying the difference of squares formula. It consists of 2 parts as each part contains two tasks. The first part is applying the formula (a - b)(a+b)=a^2 - b^2 to simplify expressions and the second part is applying the formula a^2 - b^2=(a -b)(a+b) to factorize expressions. Detailed description: Part 1 Task 1. Students have to apply the difference of squares formula to simplify 9 expressions (problems level 1). Task 2. Students have to simplify 6 expressions as they will have to multiply binomials and also use the formulas for square of sum and square of difference (problems level 2). Part 2 Task 1. Students have to factorize 9 expressions (problems level 1). Task 2. Students will need to apply the difference of squares formula from left to right and from right to left to solve 6 equations (problems level 2). This is a multiple-choice fun St. Valentine’s Day activity on evaluating polynomial functions. On each page/slide students are given one polynomial to evaluate for a given value of x. Students are asked to use substitution or synthetic division or both methods. There is given a picture of heart and faces of a girl and a boy inside the heart, students also have four answer choices and love words corresponding to each answer choice. Students have to use their answer to find what love words has the boy said to the girl on St. Valentine’s Day. The pages/slides with problems are eight. Students can draw a shape of a heart to mark their answer choice in each slide. The polynomials included are of 3th, 4th, 5th, 6th and 8th degree, the number of terms are from 4 to 6. This activity can be completed individually or students can work in pairs (partner A will evaluate the polynomial using substitution and partner B will evaluate the same polynomial using synthetic division, then partners compare their answers and choose the correct answer choice; on the next page/slide partner A will use synthetic division and partner B will use substitution to solve the problem. Thus partners will practice both methods and will enjoy this activity together. I think this activity can be used in all days of school year. The answer key is given at the end of this document.
