A 3-Week Unit looking at the fabulous book ‘The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind.’ The final outcome is a non-chronological report looking at different aspects of the book, including Malawi as a country, the boy himself and the windmill. I taught this with LKS2 but could very easily be adapted for UKS2. The children produced lovely work for this topic as they were so engaged in the story and its links with geography and science (electricity). The unit contains the following: Lessons 1-4: Mix of viper questions linked to different sections of the story. SEND comprehension sheets are also included. Lesson 5: Research lesson. The children research Malawi as a country for 1st part of lesson and listen to TED talk about his life growing up for the 2nd part. Lesson 6: Identify features of a non-chronological report. Four comprehensive PPTS covering the First Aid targets for LKS2.

An invaluable science CPD PPT to be used by both science subject leads and classroom teachers. The PPT would be particularly useful to use in a staff meeting. It displays the best websites to use for primary science planning and gives a range of methods for extending children’s learning in the classroom. Also included is a useful websites document and Year 5/6 self-assessment grid.

A 2 week literacy unit designed for LKS2 linked to the book ‘The Rhythm of the Rain.’ The final outcome is a water cycle explanation text. I found this book worked wonders for consolidating the children’s understanding of the water cycle. As a result, it is an excellent book to use across the curriculum - particularly literacy and geography.

PPT delivering the end of unit hexagon approach. Includes bullseye activity at the start of lesson to test the children’s oracy skills. I found this a really effective means of assessment at the end of the unit.

A fun lesson for LKS2 where children design their own perimeter robot! The children consolidate their knowledge of perimeter and at the same time illustrate their creative skills.

A PPT that I used with LKS2. Could easily be adapted for UKS2 as well. The 1st part of the PPT explores gender equality. The 2nd part explores gender stereotypes. The final outcome is the children design their own front cover that challenges a gender stereotype or gender stereotypes. I was really impressed with the ideas that came up with for this! Enjoy :)
