Coding is the ability to create instructions that allow a set of actions to be carried out. This resource gives an opportunity to expose pre-school (and early elementary) students to the world of coding with the format used in the user friendly coding app Scratch Jr. The resource doesn’t require a device or access to the internet. Students can cut and past the missing pieces of code into a blank box sequence to achieve the desired outcome on the worksheet. A simple Thanksgiving themed worksheet activity for early elementary, junior students to demonstrate their understanding of the three basic geometric transformations - translation, rotation and reflection. This could be used as a formative or summative assessment task, a follow-up lesson activity or a math center activity. How you reward the redeeming of these is up to your imagination - maybe even have your students create a suitable redemption scheme of their own.

This resource is two worksheets; 1. Matching pairs of identical angles to find the odd one out. 2. Ordering angles from the largest to the smallest. This resource is designed for students beginning working with angles. The focus here is on matching same angles and ordering angles. There is no requirement to measure or calculate the angles. Answer sheet is included.

A brilliant resource for supporting, consolidating and assessing students’ understanding of halves and quarters. Students place and glue half and quarter shapes to fill whole shapes on a recording sheet. In this resource are two recording sheets (one with guidelines and one without) and 4 sheets of cut out shapes. These 4 offer different levels of difficulty from simple halves only, to mixed sheets of halves and quarters, and finally a sheet of quarters only.

An activity sheet that combines the maths concepts of position and direction within a New Zealand ANZAC unit study (with a focus on World War 2 battles). Students work on locating New Zealand battle locations in World War 2 using longitude and latitude. Students will require access to an atlas or (more preferably) an online map app, such as Google Maps. Students are provided with the recording sheet and an information card that contains information on four battles New Zealand was involved in, the dates of the battles and the country. Please note - they are not in order on the card! Using the information cards and the coordinates on the recording sheet students then work out which battle took place in which country and when. Includes; recording sheet, information cards, teacher instructions and answer sheet.

A worksheet for students to practice working with the rotation concept. The idea here is rotating two shapes around a point - one shape does a half turn, the other shape does a quarter turn. There are 6 exercises on the sheet, graduating in difficulty. Answer sheet are included.

New Zealand Maori Legend Hatupatu and the Birdwoman. This is a neat activity to do with younger students (I have done it with Year 1 and up), though older primary students may enjoy adding their own creative element to it. Students cut out cave ‘flaps’ and glue on the display sheet creating a space behind the flaps to hide Hatupatu. Worksheets to encourage student thinking about recycling. Designed for small group work, but can be done individually. This resource contains 3 worksheets, with the first two being able to be completed together and the third could be used as a follow up after further work and study of recycling.

Have students become familiar with words to use in describing degrees of probability. This is a single worksheet where students place 5 words describing the probability of an outcome of a dice roll. Then they explain the reasoning for giving an answer to the last question. The five words used in this resource are; Impossible, Poor, Equal, Good and Certain.
