Edexcel melting and boiling point theory extra help

(0)
A lesson for lower attaining pupils to help them predict states of matter given melting and boiling points for different substances. The main activity involves students deciding whether certain substances will be solid liquid or gas on the different planets of the solar system. This could be a desk-bound actovity or you could print the imahes of the planets and their average temperatures and students could circulate the room to complete the activity. Suitable for mid-low attaining GCSE group or a sparky KS3 group.

GCSE Chemistry Ionic Lattices Higher Gd 5-9

(0)
Higher tier GCSE Ionic lattice lesson. Refers to a sheet from active teach, which your school may already subscribe to (not included) and refers to pages from the standard Pearson combined Science textbook for GCSE Science. Much of the lesson can be adapted though. Success criteria are To state what an ionic lattice is To explain how it forms To predict compound names from the ions they contain To use the “ - ide” and “- ate” suffix correctly To work out the correct formulas for ionic compounds if given their charges
