PRACTICE: IR STEM CHANGE PRETERIT
Part 1: Complete the table with the missing conjugations in the preterit.
Part 2: Use the 10 verbs in section 1 and write 10 original sentences with the guidelines provided.
A list of clue words (ayer, anoche etc) and a template for writing sentences are provided.

Gustar verbs sentence practice (present tense)
Students will create short original sentences with gustar verbs in the template provided using the guidelines provided.
Section 1: Gustar verbs with singular nouns / 8 sentences total
Section 2: Gustar verbs with plural nouns / 8 sentences total
Section 3: Gustar verbs with infinitives / 8 sentences total
In the template, students will write the correct indirect object pronoun, gustar type verb (singular or plural), and noun or infinitive.

For each section, follow these guidelines:
Conjugate the 6 infinitives in the preterit tense
Use the subjects and the verb conjugations to create an original 8 word sentence in the template below. Note: clue words (ayer, el otro día etc) count as one word only.
Start your sentence with a different clue word (ayer, anoche etc) using the list below.
Post the word count at the end of every sentence and be sure your sentence makes sense.
Students will write a total of 18 sentences (6 -ar, 6 -er, 6 -ir). A template is provided for students to write their sentences.

Present subjunctive missing sentence practice
Complete each sentence by adding an introductory verb (present tense) or a present subjunctive verb from the list below. Then, add 3-4 words to expand on the sentence.
There are 10 sentences total. Students will add 5 introductory verbs and 5 present subjunctive verbs. A short list of introductory verbs (unconjugated) and subjunctive verbs (unconjugated) is provided. For the subjunctive verbs, only regular -ar, -er, -ir verbs are used.
This practice can be used as students are being introduced to the present subjunctive as classwork, homework, or entry and exit pass.
Length: one page
Present tense sentences: regular -ar, -er, -ir verbs (no on-line translators)
For each section, conjugate the verbs in the present tense. Then, using the verb conjugations and subjects write a 7 word minimum original sentence. Post the word count at the end of every sentence. Your sentences must make sense.

This is a practice on writing original sentences in the present subjunctive using regular -ar, -er, -ir verbs.
Section 1: Conjugate the verbs in column A in the present tense and the verbs in column B in the present subjunctive. (10 total)
Section 2: Using the introductory and subjunctive verbs conjugated in section 1, write 10 original sentences in the present subjunctive in the template provided. After the subjunctive verb add 3-4 words to expand on the sentence. Your sentences must make sense. Every sentence must have two different subjects and two different verbs. For example, in sentence 1, subject and verb 1 will be yo / querer (present tense) and subject and verb 2 will be hablar (present subjunctive)
Students are provided with a structured template to write their sentences. This practice can be used when students are introduced to the present subjunctive.

Present subjunctive: Recommendations for situations
Carmen is very well liked by her friends and neighbors. They often ask her for advice about their issues. For each situation, provide 2 recommendations using a different introductory verb (present tense) and a different present subjunctive verb. Write your recommendations in the template provided. Use the list below for introductory verbs and conjugate them in the yo form.
There are 5 situations total and students will write 10 recommendations. A list of 10 introductory verbs (querer, preferir etc) is provided.
This practice can be used as students are being introduced to the present subjunctive. Students can also work in pairs and do this practice orally.
Favorite classes paragraph writing activity (present tense)
Students will choose 3 of their favorite classes and write 3 short paragraphs (5 sentences each) in the template provided using the guidelines.
A list of classes, adjectives, and activities (what students do in each class; for example: tomar apuntes, leer una novela etc) is provided.

Reading: La apertura de clases (present tense)
Tomorrow is the first day of class at the high school. Paco has just moved to the town of El norte. He is talking to Marcos, a boy in his neighborhood about what his classes will be like since Marcos is a year older than Paco and has taken the same classes. Read their conversation below and then answer the comprehension questions.

Stem change verbs present tense personal questions
Students will answer 20 personal questions using stem change verbs. All questions are information questions.
Stem change types included: e-ie, u-ue, o-ue, e-i. Questions are grouped by stem change types.

There are four sections with 8 questions in every section. Each section is separated by indirect object pronouns. Section 1: te, Section 2: le, Section 3: nos, and Section 4: les
Prior to the practice, notes are provided on the formula for gustar verbs along with a list of prepositional phrases (a mi, a ti etc) and indirect object pronouns.
Pages 1 - 4: Practice with 32 questions total formatted for students to write answers
Pages 5 - 6: Same 32 questions (no space for student responses) which teachers can use for oral practice, if desired.
El horario de la escuela speaking activity (present tense)
El Santo high school is taking on a new initiative this year. The school is allowing students to design their own schedule as long as they take 7 classes per day in any order. Imagine that you are a student at El Santo high school and create your own schedule below. Your classes must include the following: el inglés, las mátematicas (la geometría , el álgebra, el cálculo), las ciencias (la biología, la física, la química), la lengua (el español , el francés, el latín, el árabe, el chino), la educación físcia, el arte.
After creating your own schedule, swap your schedule with a partner and vice versa. Each of you will write and ask your partner 3 questions for every class for a total of 21 questions. All questions must be information questions (start with a question word) and use the present tense. Questions can be about what the class is like, how many students, who the teacher is and what he or she is like, how much homework, what activities happen in the class etc. You do not need to ask questions for the lunch period.
Students are given a schedule template for writing their classes and for writing their 3 questions. A list of question words and adjectives with ser are provided.
